It’s a shame that more people in the VC don’t know about Willie Nelson’s early Atlantic albums They are wonderful! This release sounds great and is the best of the 3 Atlantic 75 releases

Great video. I love the first 4 albums from Foreigner. In the 70's they were an unstoppable force of great songs and hits. I was lucky enough to see them twice. Once when they were on their way up. They were the middle act for Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special were the openers, and then I saw them again and they were the headliners on their Double Vision tour. Love that Willie album too. You're so right about the funkiness of the title song.

I feel truly blessed at the moment, so many incredible audiophile series going on, and with Kevin Gray, Ryan K Smith and Chris Bellman, it really is becoming very often the case that the originals are surpassed. It’s a great time to be collecting, especially with more of my era, the 90s having quality reissues. Chad is a god damn lifesaver!

STP is a huge favorite band of mine and the Atlantic 75th is amazing. Purple is a GREAT album, start to finish. I agree 100% with your assessment. This is THE version. Shotgun Willie is a perfect 10 too. Foreigner 4 is a great record that is not my cup of tea at all, though I am sure it sounds fine if you like that music. Thanks for the video! Keep 'em coming.

I have to disagree, core sounds better than purple. Core is very clear with space between the instruments. Purple still has the muddy sound between the instruments when jamming. Put the first side of purple on and then put the first side of Core on. You will hear what I mean.

All great titles. Why doesn't Willie Nelson sell better in Europe? I'm not in Europe, I'll guess perhaps in part the album cover? It's American culture. Admittedly being an American I never was attracted to it. Not usually a country fan, not a gun fan, but there are highlights in country that are excellent such as Willie as I am learning (late to the party). The top titles in this series I'm interested in are the jazz and prog rock mainly. I opted for the entire Atlantic series to be exposed to a wide spectrum of titles.

Almost nobody listens to country music in Europe. It’s not on the radio, not in the culture.

RKS did not get Purple right. The instrument separation is terrible compared to the original. The OG translucent purple sounds better even if not as clear. RKS balanced all the instruments out and a result muddling all together in the center by overblown bass. The voice and the drums are supposed to be centered on this release. Chad biffed this and so did RKS. I think Bob Ludwig mastered the original. I am happy we have a new pressing but I sadly will not listen to it. I will stick with my purple original. The OG has much more space and control over the soundstage. With a loud band you can’t balance everything out. A few tracks sound amazing when there is more acoustic type songs like Big empty etc. this was a missed opportunity. Why oh why did they choose to do this. Balancing out everything takes some of the beauty of each of the instruments. In Vaseline the bongos are buried. In the OG they punch out and are amazing. Do a back to back and you will see what I mean. You said you compared to the OG….hmm. How can you not hear the flattening of the soundstage? There is a “wall” as you refer to…. A flat wall. The RKS is also cut about 3db louder. No head room. Darn. I have been doing a lot of comparison of the A75. They aren’t that great. My Bad Company OG slays…. And mops the floor with the A75. My CSN monarch OG slays the A75. I am not sure if the tapes are bad now. I even prefer the mofi UD1S of CSN over the A75. Also, the last few A75 I got have been warped and dirty. Had to replace em. Come on Chad! Michael, I know you love Chad. We all do. But let’s be honest. If you compare several of these OG to the A75 I am not convinced they are better. I love the quiet vinyl. But they don’t feel as musical and definitely some magic missing. This is the OBC. Stop covering for Chad on some of these. They all aren’t garbage. But they are not as good as the OGs…. Not even close. “It’s the music stupid” 😃. Love your channel dude but the shilling is hardcore these days. I miss the days when you didn’t have a shop. How can you be objective when you have a conflict now? You sell these records now….. are you gonna say any of these didn’t get it right? In a vacuum they sound good (A75). But when you do a true back to back they are not that good. They have nice quiet vinyl….. but this isn’t the only factor. I don’t think you should be reviewing ones that you are selling.

Dude, please, please give it a rest about Purple. You’re ranting all over discogs and youtube about it. You’re clearly in the minority in your opinion. And now you’re questioning Michael’s integrity without any credible basis. If you like your OG pressing so much, just listen to that and give us a break.
