If you are in Tamil Nadu, do visit the Meenakshi temple at Madurai (your farm or organic eggs place). It's built close to 1200 CE (BC). The Taj is beautiful but the temples at Madurai & Hampi (Karnataka) are in a different league.

Watching the life of those people from a Chaiwala you can get the experience of watching life of pie so Closely. Don't take water offered for free.becareful of bulls, cows, dogs, horses , lambs as They are given free license to roam around. Tipping as much as 10% should do the job for you. Though the people are friendly (some foreigners might find this overwhelming) there are also those who try to loot money from you (sadly). Ouch! Paneer Butter Masala every day? Your digestive system must have had a tough time! Even we Indians who're seasoned to those spices don't dare to eat it every day :D Glad to see that you are safe :) Must be so hot in there? Almost as hot as Chennai. Please keep yourself hydrated.

Oh and I forgot about the water. Yep Benjamin you hit the nail right dead center on the head! Bottled water that aint got a broken seal is good to go bro'. Other than that, forget about it with an Italian-American New Yorker accent from Brooklyn. Want a Lassi? Go to places that Trip Advisor peeps recommend. It's better than playing the guessing game. If in Varanasi, go to The Blue Lassi or Baba Lassi. They are world famous and you'll see lots of people especially at The Blue Lassi. Chai is a safe bet as the water isd boiled unless you ain't getting a good vibe from the person or place on the street as usually the best chai is on the streetand not in a shop or restaurant. I know! I had chai all over the place and best ones were at chai street stalls.

What was the most humongous mistake you made in India at the beginning Benjamin? Here's mine...... I actually let one of the so-called ayurvedic message dudes on the ghats in Varanasi grab my hand instead of just yanking it away as I had been doing all along. I kep telling the dude I didn't have money for that and most importantly that I wasn't interested but I bombed out just by letting him proceed. 10 seconds later, just about, two other fellas swooped in and the next thing you know I'm getting a back massage and don't recall what the other brother was doing. All the while the first guy kept on telling me "NO PROBLEM" from the beginning when I said I had no dough (money for those of you who ain't acquainted with old skool slang :) ) and I kept saying it as well. Well anyhow I let them do their BS for about a minute (even bigger a mistake than the first one) and then just told stop and I started walking away. Then, the first man says to me "give me a 1000 Rs (Rupees) for him and his buddies and said "HELL NO!" Just out of kindess for having let them go that far (90 seconds max) I gave the guy 200 Rs and said split it 3 ways and went on my way. Before I arrived in India I had known what to expect from scammers as I had seen a video or two about this by KARL ROCK and BALD AND BANRUPT. I fell asleep on my laurels that day. I wasn't angry nut rather I laughed at myself for being such a hamster. That's my story. Tell us yours in an upcoming video yours. When this Covid 19 is all said and done, I'll be heading back that most beautiful land of BHARAT (India for the West). Let's meet up (you, Michelle and me, I have no gal presently but maybe when I get bthere I'll meet one and I ain't using any cheesy or corny pick up lines LOL) and exchange some travel and adventure stories over some AWESOME CHAI. I make chai just about every day here at the country house in the mountains of Guarne, Antioquia in Colombia. Catch ya' on the rebound brotha'. Stay healthy, strong and happy-go-lucky.

I hear ya' on the ripped bills. I got a few and boy they were almost mission impossible to unload. Any of you planning to travel to India When it is possible again? Do yourself a huge favor and get an Indian sim card with an Indian number before you fly out to India that way you won't get ripped off by the airport taxi drivers. Just use the OLA or UBER app to get a cab with a fixed rate for your destination from the airport. If you don't do that you might end up paying 3-5 times the real cab fare. Before traveling to India on my 48-day trip of a lifetime I had planned to go around India and fortunately a week or so before the actual trip I narrowed it down to North India only and even then I had to eliminate Kashmir, Manali and Jaipur from my itinerary. I still had the most awesome trip of a lifetime there. Regarding them touts it's best to just give them all the silent treatment and no eye contact. Just keep on walking. Many people in India are super cool. I was helped more than once and never got requested to give them money for their help. The advice you give about hotels and hostels is right on point. People DO LOOK AT REVIEWS and as long as there are more than 25 reviews (READ THEM CAREFULLY), the place and staff are possibly good. If you wanna save a lot of money by going for dirt cheap places, most often you'll end up being miserable. NO HEAVY BOOTS OR HIKING SHOES. Buy yourself a good light weight comfortable pair of Go Run Skechers or something similar for a lot of walking. If you are gonna do lots of hiking in the Himalayas, look for the most light weight comfortable hiking shoes for that type of terrain. Benjamin's advice is dead on right!

If you eat only one dish such as paneer butter Masala, you will have to visit doctor . Eating outside and same food again and again will upset your stomach. Lot of indians cook in their home and eat. To be safe, most of the indians live within their caste circle, so as a foreigner as you don't have caste or such kind, you should make some close friends and live within that circle. They will help you and make sure , you also help them . Of course there is politics in everyday life, but embracing it gracefully makes your day or else, it is a suffering all the days in India,.
