You don’t say anything at all about the feeder. I wonder why?

Do you think it would work with thick bramble stems and nettles? What about very dry branches? It looks like its shredding material rather than chipping it? Would this be suitable for mulching trees and other plants or too small material? Do you think the blades will stay sharp for a decent amount of time? Thanks

Doesn't look as impressive as the other model with the Shute pointing up. At least you don't need to keep moving it around to stop it blocking up!

that is the downside, you can lift the chute higher but not enough for a wheelbarrow, however its great if you just spread it under the hedges like we often do. The problem was they couldn't have a chute pointing upwards that could also mulch other waste as well as thick branches.

Think its due to the fact this is a mulcher and doesn't have the same exit velocity as a chipper cos its doing a different job.

What is the difference between this and the electric EU FM4DDE besides being electric?
@pyracantha6028

Well the 4 stands for 5HP but the FM4DDE is just a wood chipper for branches where as the -MUL version I review also shreds green waste.

Thanks for video very useful, however your link to Amazon appears to be the 4HP version as opposed to the 6HP that you are using.

To be frank, all you have shown us is a very expensive way of shredding twigs. You've also declared it is reliable, yet you hardly are in the position to say, given the time you seem to have used it - perhaps a year's use would be a better consideration of it's reliability?

Well I've had one for 6 months or so and its been great. Starts on one pull every time. I've put 5cm Eucalyptus through mine without problems . Hedge cuttings I find a bit fiddly as the hopper is fairly small.

What I dont get with all those wood chipper reviews is why do you all use branches so small that my cheap as fridge 130€ wood chipper from '07 could handle it? It's a 6hp supposed-power house. At least test its limits with a few thick branches. Bah!
@pyracantha6028

Yes I plan on doing a test with really thick branches to show how it handles it. Will be trying branches which are more than the recommended diameter.

Mine does 5cm branches without any problems. Anything more I's use a chipper rather than a mulcher.

I fear for your fingers. Please put in the smaller twigs or branches so you can use the larger ones to push instead of putting your hands in so deep.
@pyracantha6028

You can't actually get your hand in, there a guard shaped in a way to let the branches through but not your hand. There is also a rubber flap under that too. There no way you can get your fingers to the blades. Great machine though

Is it possible to angle the output chute? Like can you raise it and have the output going into a wheelbarrow?
@pyracantha6028
3 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can't raise it enough for it to go into a wheelbarrow although it can be lifted a little further. The design with it also shredding green waste, leaves etc means it couldn't be designed with the output chute pointing upwards. If you want to just shred branches than i would look at the Forest Master Electric Start 6HP Garden petrol compact Wood Chipper which can be used with a wheelbarrow, its not a mulcher as well though

Yep, hedge trimmings are a pain. Leaves I wouldn't bother with as they compost quickly anyway. Branch material is what its best at. It can chomp through 5cm stuff with ease.

Very good but that my only be 6HP the way u r putting your hand in it u r going to lose something use an old bit of wood to push stuff when it is past the hopper

This machine is rubbish. The blades wear down really quickly. It clogs up continually because the hopper is funnel shaped and it can't cut anything fibrous like bramble

I would like to see you mulching just raked up Oak leaves (not attached to the branch). I want to see how well just Oak leaves feed and what the results look like in terms of reduction. If it looks good, then I will likely buy it from your website (assuming you will ship to USA). One other question: Can the electric motor version come customized for US electric outlets usage?
@colinmiles1052
11 ай бұрын
I have one of these. I would not put raked up oak leaves through it. Firstly I cant see the need, oak leaves make great leaf mould. Secondly it would be very time consuming and thirdly raked up stuff can contain stones which will bugger your blades very quickly. Mine is petrol. Wouldn't bother with electric, not powerful enough. This machine is better doing branch type material.

Consider the Stihl Bg86 with the leaf vacuum attachment. It shreds leaves and blows them into a bag.

Does not handle these well. For this stuff you need a very big hopper. Maybe there#s a market out there for such a beast? Would not need to be too powerful.
