Question about all the trees that fell. How are those taken care of? Do kayakers hike back to remove it?

Dane: Does anyone ever remove the downed trees? You mentioned that there is a lot of wood on that run. Any paddling groups ever do “trail maintenance?”
@retaob
3 жыл бұрын
“ Trail Maintenance “ is a necessity on many Southeast runs, and the people who boat the most seem to be the ones who get in there with ropes and chainsaw to clear the river. It requires a lot of time and teamwork. Often it’s 3-4 people in a given kayaking zone who are the honey badgers who get it done.

The rapid at 14:57 is called Mangler, and i thought nobody had ever run it...until I moved from the southeast to PA and met Jared Seiler (of the famous/infamous Demshitz). I thought he was lying until I saw the pictures (link: www.pyranha.com/blog/shivas-love-the-raven-fork/). Still have never seen video of it though.

Trees and whitewater don't mix well with kayaking. Good that you included the scouting and walks. Probably saved an idiot's life, the Darwin Awards are there for a reason.

Does your sister ever run this type of stuff? I see you and Nick all of the time, so I figure she is around somewhere. Just curious, I know she is a great boater, but like other than Noria I don't know of very many women that do big water stuff.
