The main finger picking pattern is very tricky ! To keep the alternating bass going you must pinch the 6 th string with 2nd string then next time pinch the 6 th string with the 1st string ... The 4th bass beat is played with the thumb on its own .....

Wonderful version Joao..always loved the original version most my self..you did an excellent job on "Forever" it is always a pleasure to listen to your "Roy" Covers. on this tune Roy shows his classic English folk finger 60's style in the same kind of playing style as the likes of John Renbourne, Bert Janch and Ralph McTell and a lot of other top players from that period, you display some considerable skill in this style your self. All the best Stuart

Thanks Stuart. I've known how to play this one for a long time - more or less. Recently I've tried to refine it and try out the difficult vocals. I think I am going to play it quite a lot in the next few months. It can only get better :)

@@BadSpeech oh you can't imagine how much joy you've brought into my life. I've been practicing some of these songs like Commune, Forbidden Fruit, Girlie, Francesca for years and now that I've become a little better it's an endless source of joy for me. So many times I've thought of you with such a great appreciation. You're one of the best teachers in my life. So considering what you're doing, giving us joy from a real, sophisticated, otherworldly art this number is huge. And also there those to whom we play and who, at times, if we're persistent enough, are also happy to hear our renditions of Roy's poetic spirit. Please remember there are people who deeply appreciate what you're doing. Thank you very much! And congratulations to you and us all, Roy's fans and melancholic, dreamy music lovers.

@BadSpeech
10 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't. Search for Travis Picking on YT. That's the basics to almost all RH fingerpicking patterns. In this case (Forever) you just have to keep the thumb in time and then somehow do the melody with the other fingers. Cheers!

Hey friend, its unclealbert72 (Sam) I've changed my channel name to Conglomeration Cat. I use to post a couple of Roy Harper tunes on here many years ago. Have you ever fancied doing a collaborative project together on here? I'd really love to do the Valentine version of Forever with you playing the guitar and me singing. What do you think? How would we go at it?
@BadSpeech
Жыл бұрын
Hey Sam. I know who you are and have been a fan of your Roy Harper, Neil Young and R.E.M. covers. I’d love some form of collaboration but, to be honest, I am having trouble with finding the time or the right frame of mind to put anything together. I have a couple of things that I plan to do and should have done by now and yet… I still play Harper almost every week at my friend’s bar, but I guess I am going through a KZitem burn out phase.

BadSpeech Thanks for the reply, can you say from 6.03 - 6.20 E D G E B D E/E I keep going out of sink but on the 1st line we're just spinning leaves E and D and A and G are fine, but straight after little girl I go out of sync again with the alternate E/G thumb,I'm actually fine with Vestapol/Guitar Rag ( Sylvester Weaver ) but for the life of me I can not get this little bit, been trying for days now, anyway thanks it is a fave with Commune 🎶🙂
