Just a message to everyone saying buy an SSD. Watch the video again, I test it on an HDD and an SSD and it only works on an SSD. I have had a M.2 SSD since 2018. Whenever I review a game I ALWAYS install it on my HDD which is reasonably fast and if it does not run very well I then run it on an SSD. This is the first game I have had to run on SSD to get it running properly. My Space Marine II was running on a HDD and it was great, you don't need an SSD to run a game if it's optimised properly and that is an absolute fact as I prove it every single month when I review a AAA game.

SSD mostly matters a lot in games with lots of loading screens or long start up times, for example on my 7200rpm HDD Stellaris takes about 3 or 4 minutes to load when it's first booted up, but on my M.2 SSD it takes around 30 seconds. Big difference, saves so much time.

Due to the length of the review I never mentioned the following things so I will do that here: First up sorry the music is too loud, I was a bit rushed in edit, that's my excuse and am sticking to it ;) Your base is a sewer where refugees are living with you, these are also vendors that sell you guns, ammo, mods, first aid etc You need to collect water from missions and return it to the base to keep it going or it's game over essentially. You also level up certain things (perks) with XP and your weapons level up the more you use them. At a certain level you gain prestige which means you can reset your perks in exchange for an increase in base stats such as speed HP etc. You then have to re-acquire your perks through XP this is the roguelike elements of the game. Overall it's a fun but frustrating game but unfortunately the frustration outweighs the fun for me at the moment, I hope that in time it will change and become a truly awesome game.

The devs have said the reason they made it third person had something to do with the psychology of NOT shooting, believe it or not. I think the point was that taking time before aiming and observing your environment and the danger around you will encourage players to consider their surroundings and avoid shooting whenever they can, as this is kind of meant to be an "Anti-shooter" extraction shooter, I think that was in a Q&A but I can't remember which one.

As a art director that recently released a game for the first time I’ve learned reading the reviews of the game i worked that gameplay is king. No matter how amazing the art of the game is or how creative the setting, if theres problems with the gameplay aspect and features like net coding, camera, hit registration, enemy ai the game will be judged will suffer scrutiny no matter how good the rest is. The devs put a lot of time in creating this amazing, beautiful world with one of a kind art style and narrative. As someone that has been on the trenches of game development, its pretty obvious that all the time spent before EA was in building the world , environments, models and assets, which clearly took resources out of the polishing of the mechanics. I will just disagree with being too early into ea because i think their strategy was to create a solid base of what they wanted to do, implement the features to be playable then taking the money of sales while on EA to hire the professionals able to redoo, polish and implement the systems to have its mechanics completely finished and polished. In terms of budget, the studio that developed the game probably didn’t have enough money to afford both top of the line concept artists, environment artists and art directors along with great programmers and game devs that could bring the game to industry standards. I think they made the right choice in first creating buzz and hype with its world building to know actually finish the mechanics with influx of cash. After production is finished and assets are created, you can save on the art department and fund on the backend professionals to improve what is lacking in the mechanics. I hope they can pull it out, they only need money and time cause everything i hear from then makes me believe in their passion

7:50 You immediately deduced that the optimal strategy to get your gear back was to go in naked, beeline to your death point whilst ignoring the mission, then rushing back. You then complained that you cant use the gear you picked up... from the corpse of your previous run after respawning 😅. It is not like they should keep your gear spawned in on the next run without other scavs taking it either. Obviously the realism is not a factor here, just the feel of the game mechanics. The devs are experienced gamers too, and knew that people would run in naked - so they probably designed it to require an extraction to force you to actually prepare for the mission and decide if it's worth the recovery so that you maintain the aesthetic of the game.

Based on the footage I've seen from others the thing that stands out to me is that there needs to be more audio cues. For "medium" mechs there's sound effects, but it would help if infantry chatter and other cues were implemented. The eurasian cyborgs also seem to be ever-present and possibly overpowered. I'm not sure the best option there since they are probably the best low level enemy designed to induce fear. I also haven't seen anyone talk about noisemakers, distractions, etc. From what I've read and heard they don't exist in the game, but would be really beneficial to help direct attention of enemies so that they target each other instead of the players. Heck, that could be a mission in and of itself- "Find x number enemy patrols and use designators so that our army can target them". Lastly, it seems like while there is a reputation system it's unclear what will make you a target if you're in front of a prospective enemy. That may be by design (to add tension), but some sort of player/NPC communication or audio cue would help ("Hey, it's that bastard that shot Sarge!", etc).

Exactly and them saying we're releasing it into EA due to fans interest isn't a smart reason, game studios should know by now if you release a game that the audience is paying for ,the large majorities first impression of your game is all that matters, a minority may stay and not refund because they wanted to support the development, but the rest, that initial distaste is the only thing they'll remember. IMO they should have continued to cook for at least a year, if they needed money a Kickstarter would of worked better, that would've already weeded out the people that see the game is available and buy it rather then knowing they're supporting something they see for a while. I'm very interested in the game so when I hear EA I let others test out the game for me and then I decide, but a lot of people dont think that way, and for the sake of the game and the studios reputation , unfortunately I think they should be considering those people.

given all the slob most studios have been feeding down the live service drip pipe: this crew of 20 people have stamped out an entire world and a concept for a game which .... is niche. this is not your hero shooty, this is a dystopian fuckery and i will give them my 27 eurons to make this great --- will this be a buggy mess? esp in regards to the AI doing most of the shit yes ffs it will take time - but i love the setting, i love a fresh ip --- and i support indie devs, even though i am very picky with EA titles. i imagine this title to be similar to bg3 --- very early access and at some point boom. there is so much potential and the world is solid af, and given time - they will hash out the technical stuff. again, it's just twenty people with a vision. in the age of quadruple shit, this is the kind of shit we ought to support. /2cents

Saw your comment on bigfry's video about the game. Yeah this video is pretty much what you said. Totally agree with you. Personally my biggest concern is the end game. The devs want to railroad us into always being weak. So that means we will never get to see the cool stuff. No player vehicles, tanks, mechs, or helicopters. No stealing from the other factions or using their gear to blend in as them. Everything that would allow someone to survive in such a world by blending in or having a chance is basically stripped from the player artificially. Making late game very repetitive as you never really get to progress as a person. Just faction rep, venders, and finding jpegs. Yes we are suppose to get an exo-suite late game. But that doesnt amount to much since the player will just be exposed the whole time. Its not intended for combat.

I think if you could just go back to your body and "carry on", Then running out into the warzone in your underpants would just be the norm. You'd never do it any other way. Mac, what you are claiming just isn't how an SSD or a HDD work. The HDD/SSD will only affect the game when the files are unpacked or pulled into virtual memory. The only time a Hard drive or SSD can affect a games performance outside directly loading is when the page file on the system is too small, this is an especially common problem with cheap hard drives with a low hertz rate. If your SSD was hitching, you would have suffered from it playing SM2. Your problem is either going to be hard drive space, page file allocation, Vram, Ram hertz or power supply. Its absolutely not HDD/SSD load speeds.

Developers are playing a clever trick with gamers: they release games knowing it’s shite and then they appease by saying they will patch it up. No. In my experience, that never works. In fact, it’s a bullshit strategy to prevent gamers like all of you from giving their release negative reviews on Steam in particular. Once it’s shite on release, it’s shite. Simple.

What is the end game? So you can obtain more powerful weapons to take down the big mechs? Or is it just a constant loop of scavenge stuff just so you can get a more powerful weapon which rarely gets used? It seems the gameplay loop hasn't been fleshed out properly and playing over the same handful of maps is going to get old quite quickly. Also, there doesn't seem to be any early game balance, total rng of what level of war you'll spawn into. They don't seem to have gone with Risk vs Reward: easier map less good loot, harder map more good loot - this game seems to be RNG based which I don't think will work, along with real time water loss is just weird.

Saying there's way more going on in SM2 is hilarious. Eye candy isn't the main thing that affects your system performance. Especially in a game that utilizes a mass of more or less the same model/mesh./Textures, where all systems are more less only supporting that horde which is made easier when it's just tracking a copy/paste of the same interactable.... That's what makes games like SM2 easier on the hardware, than something like Skyrim or RDR2. It might "look" like there's more going on, but there actually isn't under the hood. Unique interactable objects/models, are way more system heavy as an example hence why a game like Skyrim is capped so heavily, it has to allow time for the system to track everything it needs to at all times. IF the player gets out ahead of the loading of all those assets, the entire system will crash (that's how you fall through the game world and other issues like that). This is also the main cause of things like stutter when a mass amount of interactable or unique models need to load.
