I really enjoyed that 7 minutes Grant! You made a fantastic job of that cleaver and the result is a tool that is a pleasure to own and to use. There is something very precious about a tool you have made yourself, you have the same kinship with that as a person who in prehistory knapped a chunk of flintstone into a knife he could use to cut and slice with. Great work and that is a fantastic place that those people have invested in and set up.

Thank you Eryk! I think it might be a bit too special to use (and too sharp 🤣🤣) but if I ever have a need for a meat cleaver I know it will be there 😁 I can't wait to make more so they won't be as special.

Really cool Grant. The closest I’ve gotten to forging is “cold forging” a screw driver in 7th grade metal shop. Using a furnace to heat the metal looks like a lot more fun. Congratulations on turning your first handle. It came out great. Just watch out. Turning can quickly become a very deep rabbit 🐰 hole as you may have noticed on my channel. It is, as you said, a lot of fun. Don’t worry about your technique. There are many ways to turn and as long as you’re successful, like you were, technique really doesn’t matter as long as your doing it safely. Great video. Hope all is well.

Hey Grant! That seemed to be quite an exciting experience! Forging and turning... fantastic! You have got to keep practicing! Did you like one more than the other or did you enjoy both? At the end, I am watching you waving the cleaver, gesticulating , and my eye kept following your hand..."it's not a mallet, Grant!" Good job!
@TheGrantAlexander

Thanks Juliet! I liked them both the same. Wood turning was way more messy, but forging was louder. Since I do a lot of work once the little one goes to bed I can see myself wood turning first, but I'm sure I'll get a forge eventually! I agree with the end scene. Looking back at it was a bit scary🤣😮

Hi Grant. What type of timber did you use for the handle. When you pushed the Timber handle onto the mate handle of the clever and removed again, did it go into a bucked of water to stop the burn
@TheGrantAlexander

Hi, the handle is made from maple. And yes, it went into the water to stop the burn, good catch.
