Zgar is also a river of the same name that flows through the village and is a tributary of the Southern Bug.
As such, the village did not exist until the Bolshevik occupation and collectivization in the late 20s. Twentieth century. Before that, people lived scattered in hamlets and even among the forest, cutting down trees created space for farming, and burning stumps, probably, created the name of the river - Zgar.
