This is just so sad. I know she was stressed about turning 30yrs old and that she had stated that she felt like she was aging out of relevancy. I believe this mindset all started immediately after she won Miss America, bc she was “the oldest” contestant to have ever won (at the YOUNG age of 28) and bc of that she was bullied online severely not only for being a woman of color (a beautiful woman at that imo) but they also trolled her for her age. We (the people of the USA, and internationally as well) really need to do something to put an end to the trolls who so carelessly and recklessly bully others from the safety of the Internet. Online bullying is so horrible and causes so many people to become depressed and more often than not it often ends in a similar situation as Chesley’s. The bullying/trolling needs to stop and those who continue to treat others so horrifically need to be held accountable in some way or another. People should never be bullied into feeling less than or anything negative ever especially at the expense of online trolls. The trolling, the bullying, the cancel culture needs to stop it’s just completely out of hand at this point and something needed to be done regarding this situation….like yesterday.

This sounds very insightful and I wanted to hear from people who knew her and get an idea what was possibly bothering someone like her ,who appear to "Have it all". If "aging out of relevancy" was a concern, I kinda take that to mean (although not necessarily) that she must've wanted a career in Hollywood, because at 30, being a Lawyer like she was, she could've joined any Law Firm and be very successful! But it's hard to know what was really going on. Anyway May she rest in Peace 🙏🌹🌌.

I really didn't think anything of it because even though my mother suffered really bad depression and anxiety, she was being medicated for it and kept herself occupied as much as possible with the support of me and my family. My mother decided to take a street drug which was laced with fentanyl which subsequently killed her. Even though it wasn't a suicide, what she was going through mentally and emotionally led to her death. I normally wouldn't share something so private but I felt like it was necessary. I couldn’t imagine how I would face my dad again not to talk of telling him about school, I just wanted to end it all! But thanks to my cousin who came to see me and spoke to me before I made any irrational decisions… I started college again and I’m graduating this month! Yay! To anyone having a very bad time: Hang in there, life can be tough. That's just the reality, the cycle of life. Find someone to talk to. Call a suicide hotline if need be. They WILL be glad to talk with you. Remind yourself of what you love in life. There is always something/someone. What is it? What can you do to bring more beauty into your life? In my postpartum journey I have been slowly losing touch with absolutely everything, I don’t talk to my friends, I stopped calling everyone and pushing them from me, I barely talk to anyone and I cry every night feeling so lonely and depressed . She brushed it off and said it wasn’t necessary because it’s probably that I’m just too busy to hang out with people. This made me think that while a lot of parents really don’t or didn’t know their children needed help, some others don’t want to believe their children need it. PLEASE DON’T DO THAT. Especially with women they really want to emphasize that she was beautiful to state that indeed now it officially is a loss to the world. Her death caused a loss to all those that knew her and cared for her, it shouldn’t matter her looks or money she had. Most of you dummies would be wrong. Everything that you say this woman had is stuff that can be given to anyone except youth, which she did not really have as a 30 year OLD lady. @@josephx1678 As a non American myself, I can’t say what they do or not, as I don’t personally know any. I’m not sure what you mean when you say “American’s have a huge problem not letting woman die”. As far as I know death happens regardless and no one can do anything about it. I can understand how suicides can be upsetting as it goes against our (humans) biological need to survive. People seem to be talking about her perceived beauty due to the fact that she literally won a beauty pageant. Of course beauty, success, and money can come and go. And youth as well as beauty is subjective. Some don’t view 30 as being old and others do, usually depending on their age as comparison. My experience with humans in general is that they don’t really expect death at all unless someone is severely ill. That’s very odd to me giving that the only guarantee in this life is death. Anyway, like the OP said, “you can never assume how other people feel”.

This is so sad. And I can honestly relate. So many of us suffer in silence, and I hate the narrative that suicide is selfish. It takes so much selflessness to continue living while in deep pain. I hope more and more people will look at those who attempt suicide and/or commit it with compassion, because depression is a difficult, and winding road-one that’s difficult to get off of, even when you do find the courage to speak up and seek help. This is so true. Whenever I was suicidal it was very logical, to the point no one could argue with my logic, even the guy I spoke to when I called a suicide hotline. He literally apologized and said that never happened before, he didn't know what to say. It was basically like well, I have been living with "x" for "y" number of years and therefore it is likely to continue, but I'm affecting these people I love in "z" ways, and if I really love them, and I do, the only logical thing is to remove the burden. I felt like I couldn't care for my daughter in that state but neither of us could function if I were alive and we were separated, so I had to die so she could heal and have a full life without me, before she got even more attached. I figured, if I've been suicidal all this time, I am likely to continue feeling this way based on all available data, I'm likely to commit suicide at some point statistically speaking based on my history, trauma and diagnoses, so why do it later when I can do now (she was 5 at the time). I very logically figured if I ended it then, a healthier family member, and one with more money, could take my daughter and give her a better life than I ever could. She would arguably be better off, my family will be better off without the burden of my emotional instability, the sooner the better. Funnily enough, what stopped me that night was how bad I felt for the guy on the suicide hotline, he seemed like he really felt bad and took it to heart that he couldn't help, he probably quit after that call honestly, rethought his whole life. I wish I could tell him he ironically kept me alive. I've had multiple attempts and they were all similar, I felt very cold, calm and rational. I thank God none were successful. I've found the right meds and therapist, really worked on myself, and my daughter is now 12 and the most amazing kid, her awesomeness shows me I didn't mess her up as bad as I thought I would. That's why it breaks my heart to read stories like this. If she really did this to herself, if she'd just waited it probably would have passed. She was such a beautiful girl with so much potential.

I had severe mental illness. I had suicidal thoughts and ideations and was on no medication at the time because I was unaware of what was wrong with me. But even though I desired most to end my life and be free of all judgement, fears, guilt, and perceptions, I couldn't get myself to do it at the midst of a stadium of voices in my head chanting at me to "do it" Some part of me wanted to hold on to life and I fought back, ignored the voices then sought help at a psyche ward because I realized I was going crazy and was losing my sanity. I got the help that I needed answers for and got a diagnosis then treated. I wouldn't be here today if I had remained that selfish to take my own life and leave all whom loved me devastated and broken. I'm here to let y'all know that things can turn around and there is light at the end of the tunnel as long as you believe in yourself and not give in too soon to failure and dispair. Things can and will be better for you. You can be a success story. Don't be a traggic story.
