from central WA. 20 years ago i hooked a sturgeon about an hour east of here (above the dam) around crow butte. it was massive. my uncle, cousin and i took turns fighting it for almost an hour but never got it into the boat. we got it to breach the surface and it was easily over 10 feet.

awesome fish brotha! bigger than ive caught. but please be careful with them and dont take their head out of the water when they are longer than 50 inches. ive personally seen people get fines at a big dam for that reason. love your stuff man!

I caught about a 6 foot sturgeon in my home state of Vermont on a medium/light ugly stick with6 pound test a worm on a #2 hook it’s still my best fishing experience of my life and that’s over a massive blue shark on the ocean I’ve got a picture of it but couldn’t figure out how to post here I’d love to tell Forrest the story but I’m sure I’ll never get the opportunity

I did remove it from the water to use my original Leatherman to remove the hook we took great care and thought to get it back in the water and make sure he was good and strong enough to swim away and contacted the local sturgeon biologist Chet McKenzie to cover our rears I’d love to share a photo of it but can’t figure out how on here unfortunately

Why aren't they afraid to hold it? If it's so strong that it weighs the rods down so much, couldn't it break their bones/knock someone out? When they let it go I though it was gonna zip off, end up breaking the woman's knees with one tailflip.
