So today we are visiting a part of Fort Amherst that isn't open to the public and hasn't been redeveloped. It is a small section of tunnels that ran between Amherst redoubt and Prince of Wales bastion. This section of tunnel has a caponier which connected the 2 parts of the fort, caponier means covered walkway and usually runs cross a dry ditch.
sadly Amherst redoubt has since long gone and houses sit on top of the site hence why one end of the tunnels is blocked off. The Of Prince Of Wales bastion has been turned into a tennis courts and was done so quite a while ago and was only accessible for military personnel.
It isn't the largest section of tunnel, but it does show a lot of different ways they built the tunnels and different architectural looks.
We hope you enjoy and until next time happy exploring.
