@aaron With Pod farm you could sound better even at an axe fx level or Kemper, this fortin nameless is a good product like the others, the problem is not the plugins but the way to use them and many times The lack of mixing knowledge is the one It causes several to talk about pests of other companies. I could show you that Pod farm can sound like a valve amp and is a product of more than 10 years ago. If you want without compromise we do a test with Pod farm and fortin nameless and try to get a high quality gain tone can be Metallica and see which of the two sounds closer.

Yeah, it sounds better than this plugin and also feels a lot more direct when playing...I only say that because I've tried both offerings and went for the U530, but the Reaxis is pretty damn cool too. But they've also come out with SS-X11 A and B pedal recently that sounds all right too... The thing about them all though is that the only way you can calm their noise down is with a gate that makes it really sharply managed...but I personally liked the Mercuriall stuff. Nothing from Fortin, but it's definitely this new sharp mid sounding tone that lacks warmth or saturation that I tend to enjoy. But I am also into finding a crushing metal tone, rather than a clear crusty djenty thing...but I also mix my U530 with a couple EZ Mix settings. I want to look into the Two Notes IR cab software too...see if it will compress some of the crunch.

Does Mercuriall Reaxis Djent? || Presets Included
@woocifer
6 жыл бұрын
The plugins can be really noisy if you have the drive up high and the presence cranked as well. The white noise, is it shapeable? As in can you change EQ settings and the white noise sounds different? If so it might be a driver thing or some way your DAW is set. But I'm shooting in the dark here...I use Reaper, turn on the VST, make sure my input is set to the proper one on the interface, click the monitor on, pick a preset that sounds somewhat the gain I want and then fiddle around until it's good. There is definitely a high gain noise, but that is basically what an amp speaker would sound like that CRANKED as it's an actual amp. On the ReAxis I was able to use the noisegate to calm that shit down pretty well. On the U530 I've had more difficulty because I don't have the pedal effect that comes with Reaxis. However if you use a Gate or Noise Suppressor, you can get some pretty good results. But I'm just getting to know these plugins as well...but if its JUST white noise, I'd suggest reinstalling your divers and maybe changing the buffer size for the ASIO.

How does this compare to something like Guitar Rig? If I already own Guitar Rig is there a big benefit to buying this?
@robistocco
6 жыл бұрын
My 2 cents. I bought Native Instruments Guitar Rig many years ago, and at the time it was baller with all the tone options you could get out of the plugin: all those amps, cabs, effects, pedals etc. Unfortunately it hasn't gotten many updates through the years and in my opinion the amp sim plugins technology has evolved incredibly recently. With regards to distortion in particular, if you compare the high gain tones to other plugins that came after Guitar Rig, like Positive Grid Bias FX, JST Toneforge, Overloud TH3, Fortin Nameless or Line6 Helix Native, there's no game. I bought Bias FX, Toneforge Misha Mansoor and the Fortin Nameless, and tried the demo versions of Helix Native and Overloud TH3: long story short, I haven't been using Guitar Rig for at least two years now. Probably if you're more into clean / ambient sounds and don't want to invest in separate reverb / delay / chorus plugins, you can get away nicely with GR; however if you're a metal head, give the competitors a shot: Toneforge and Fortin don't have a trial version as far as I can tell, but you can try out fully working versions of Helix Native and Overloud TH3 (also BiasFX has a demo version). Trust me you'll easily hear the difference.
@LordBete

Roberto Stocco Thanks for the reply dude that gave me a bit of insight into what I should do. When I got GR I wasn’t really a metal head, played more acoustic stuff than anything but as times gone on I’ve fashioned a love for a great sounding drive so I’ll definitely be sure to check out the plugins you mentioned and see what suits my needs but after watching a few videos on this plugin and Helix / BiasFX I think that’s the route I’ll go down. Really helpful reply, I appreciate it!

Peter Murphy I love some of the effects in Guitar Rig but the amps sound suuuper dated. There's lots of great options out there these days. For my money: The best clean tones & Archon are the Waves PRS Supermodels The best crunchy Marshall tones, and bass tones are Amplitube 4. Tied for best bass tones is also Logic's Bass Amp Designer, that plugin is way better than it has any right to be. Best "amp sim" high-gain/djenty tone is the TSE X50. Best, most realistic metal tone is the Fortin Nameless. All of them benefit massively from a good 3rd party impulse (except the Nameless, the stock impulses are incredible). It will be night and day. Helix Native will do in a pinch if you want something that sounds good and covers all bases. Bias sounds horrible. The Misha Mansoor plugin is nowhere near as good as it should be. Never use Amplitube for high-gain tones. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

@AdamTrain
6 жыл бұрын
Ilian Petit I like the Spark but it seems to be lacking in top-end bite for me. Sounds a little smoother than the Amplitube models but, to me, it sounds more like an amp sim. A lot of the Amplitube stuff sounds pretty dated as well but the Classic British Collection, to me, sounds the most like a real Marshall of anything I've tried ITB. But the Spark is great and Mercuriall's Tube Screamer emulation is the best ITB boost pedal I've ever heard.
