Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana in Sanskrit) helps calm the mind while stretching the whole body, especially the hamstrings. It's extremely important to learn this pose correctly as it comes up very often and is a part of the Sun Salutations.
The forward fold can be quite an intense stretch, particularly for the hamstrings and back. However, you need to be careful not to push too hard, seeking an "intense" experience! Bend your knees as much as you need to and seek a relaxing experience.
