The solution for dysfunctional neck postures is not to pull the neck back, as the patient is already hyperextending the neck due to neck "hinging". I strongly recommend to stop this detrimental therapeutic approach.
There are three main factors to good neck posture, in my opinion. 1., a decent extension of the upper thoracic spine (applies mainly when being upright. Not as important when sitting). 2., A "long neck", without tucking the chin. 3. Avoiding neck clenching.
This is, in my experience, the most important cue for normalization of cervical musculature and especially the most important intervention for non-surgical spinal degeneration, such as disc prolapses.
