I appreciate your perspective so much. I agree with your sentiment of reunification with biological families when its what's best for the kids. There is such a movement towards "reunification is the goal" ....we have been told this by our state and there are definitely other channels that declare that its selfish to believe children would do better with an adoptive family. What you are sharing about the system is so familiar to me. Thank you

We have been told that the states have a "goal" to meet. So many kids have to be returned home, or go to kinship or else they won't meet their goal. I've heard that too, that reunification is the only right choice, but that obviously isn't true!

You guys were SO patient with this process! I have two adopted girls and ours went very smoothly. People always tell us how lucky our girls are but we really feel like the lucky ones. I'm sure you feel the same, even though that was such a long ordeal!

Just found your channel I have always admired people that take on other peoples children as their own. I hope you don't tell each child's story as it's their story to tell when they are old enough to share their story if they want to.
@TheConnleyClan

Thank you for watching and welcome! I had a child come to me when we first started and said they wanted to share their story. Then all the other children asked if they could share too. It's probably hard to understand, but I think getting to share their stories feels liberating for them. We do have two stories up, and editing allows me to edit out things we don't want shared. ❤

@@TheConnleyClanthere needs to be money, better legislations, more compassion for the children, better vetting. Much more is wrong. My sister took our 3 nieces 4, 7 and 9 into her home on my nephews request during a winter freeze. They were living in abandon cars and squatting in abandon homes when the could. The kids were born addicted, were malnourished, never went to school, so much more. You probably heard this many times But the addicts are so smart and work the system. Not only did my sister go to court dates for the kids she was constantly in court on trumped up fake charges that were so pathetic and terrifying. But she kept fighting for the love of the girls. Today they are thriving no thanks to our DCFS. So thank you 😊 for your dedication and your courage to speak up and be a voice for the kids.

Why are parents working the system? What’s in it for them? Does the state pay for drug rehabilitation or job skills education to support the children and so the parents play it for benefits or services? Thank goodness you stayed in the “game” to work with these children, they need you so much.
@TheConnleyClan
2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't make much sense to me, but I've watched it happen. What I observed was that they could go do whatever they wanted and it seemed they took advantage of that. The state would require the parents to take drug counseling (if they had issues with it) and often had a mentor to help them with things like job searches. In our experience the parents would often times not take advantage of the services. Yes, we are so happy we hung in there, even when it got tough! ❤

You two are making me feel awful. My husband passed away in November. My two daughters, my my 16 mo. Old grandson, and I also had Covid. We lost the patriarch of our family and try to figure life out was devastating. My 15 year old daughter decided she did not have to listen to Mom and refused to go to school and etc. So no we are in court and thank God for my Sister and Brother in law they took her in. And since then I have had a TIA. Stroke, hospitalized for organ failure and almost died of covid again last month. So our state is setting a motion for my 15 year old daughter to be removed perminantly from my custody. I will get any over night visitation I want plus all communication about her. But because of loss of income from the loss of my husband and myself being so sick does that constitute thia little county that has nothing better to do focus on me?

I think every situation is different. Our channel is meant to be inspirational and educational. Our story is just that . . . OUR story. Seems odd that the state would step in if your sister and brother in law were helping out, but every state is different and every situation is different. I'm sorry for what you are going through.
