This complex maintained a comprehensive maritime surveillance of everything that moved across the English Channel. Ten costal radar stations reported directly to this complex.
This complex held responsibility for 5 other HMS shore establishments. 60ft below ground this complex also held a huge amount of equipment for intelligence gathering, interpretation and dissemination.
This complex was dug by the 1st Tunnelling Engineers Group, No 172 Tunnelling company and was completed by the 14th November 1941.
In 1999 a volunteer group came together with the intention of restoring this complex for viewing to the public. Unfortunately, due to English common law, the tunnels are owned by multiple individuals and a 100% unanimous lease of the tunnels could not be reached. As such, this place now sits in darkness.
