Today's Scripture Meditation: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
“Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who live are always given over to death because of Jesus, so that Jesus' life may also be revealed in our mortal flesh.
So death works in us, but life in you. And since we have the same spirit of faith in accordance with what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, we also believe, and therefore speak, knowing that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and present us with you. For all this is because of you, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to overflow to God's glory.
Therefore we do not give up; even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Have you ever seen something so beautiful that it has stopped you in your tracks and all you could do was just stare?
That’s how I felt as I sang through this week’s Abide Sessions. It’s fascinating to me that the more I make it a practice to behold God in all His beauty, wonder and grace, the more clearly I begin to see everything else. No matter what I face, I am becoming more and more convinced that it truly is a momentary affliction- dim in comparison to the light of His glory and grace.
The promise in this weeks scripture is that soon death will be just a memory and as we are captivated by eternal glory, all we will be left saying for the rest of eternity, is “Lord, You’re Beautiful. You are worth it all.”
I pray this session encourages you in the knowledge that the Spirit of life is at work in you and that you are being renewed day by day. Take heart friends, He is so so worthy of it all.
Join me in this declaration prayer today: “No matter what I face each day, I can lift up my eyes and say it was worth it all. All that I need is found in You. My hope, my strength, my joy found in You alone. I won’t be discouraged, I won’t be dismayed no matter what I face, because I’ve got You on my side, face to face for eternity!” Amen!
