Angie, I think the reason Mother Nature makes us farsighted after 50 is because she knows nothing looks good up close! 😄 I'd settle for a HG foundation that looks good from an average personal distance.

I absolutely have been loving your videos lately. Nobody reviews as well as you do. One thing i wanted to say is the beauty blender steals 90 percent of the product No matter what foundation I use is it way too sheer. I don't know how so many people love it. It sucks all of the product up. Anyway Love your videos and especially Foundation fridays. Please continue them

I'm excited for the upcoming week's reviews! I have not seen anyone give such thorough and detailed explanations of the products. Your reviews are gold. I was surprised at how sheer the coverage is with this particular foundation, after having heard so many people rave about its coverage. And no one else has mentioned the fact that it has a strong fragrance - thanks again for that! You are KZitem's version of Consumer Reports for makeup!

As always, thank you so much for being or mature skin crusader, in your tireless search for the holy grail. I'm always excited to hear your feedback. You always offer you pro's & con's so each viewer can decide for themselves whether or not to give it a go...much appreciated. However, waiting for Fridays seems forever....can't wait for next weeks test. It's too bad cosmetic companies don't spend alot more time and effort creating & testing foundations for mature skin. They already have the market covered for youthful skin...shouldn't it be time to put a lot more focus on us mature women!?!?

I just love that you are doing these "Foundation Friday" reviews. I honestly think that the foundation is one of the most important makeup items you need to get right in order to have an over all flawless face. I have very oily skin, so I am on the edge of my seat waiting for you to come across a foundation that STAYS MATTE for at least 8+ hours. Thank you so much for doing these reviews. I love how honest and real you are. Have a great weekend... Hugs and kisses. 😍❤️😘🙌🏼

I really like this foundation and plan on purchasing more when I'm next in the UK. However , I always use a primer (Neutrogena Healthy Skin) and a finishing powder - either Bobby Brown or Laura Geller Bronze & Brighten. Plus - I use the Elf setting spray! I find using these in addition gives a lovely finish and lasts all day (12-14 hrs)

We are all so different but I for one really like this foundation. A couple of things: applying a bit less, with fingers and rubbing it into pores works best for me. Also, possibly the fact that you thought the shade was a bit light for you may explain why you were liking it more late in the day - it seemed to get a bit warmer and slightly less light. Just my two cents. Thanks for another informative and thorough review x

Hi Angie, I think you will struggle with all foundations to work well. I think the problem is in the application. You needed to buff the foundation into the skin the area's that needs greater coverage first.. do this with a small buffing brush. Then, apply all over the face with a damp sponge, by bouncing it on. Use a tissue that has been separated to light blot up excess, anywhere where it crease's like under eye. Then apply a very light setting powder to set the foundation, this will set it, and help to absorb any oils through the day. I can suggest a make up artist who shows most of this on KZitem if your interested. Bourjois 123 colour perfecting would have suited you better, as it has colour correcting pigments.. Nisha uses the CC cream of this. Love this series your doing. xx

Hi Angie! I'm using the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and I'm liking that pretty darn well. It's got more coverage than the Serum foundation which is good. It's not going to last all day, the only thing I've found that does is EL Double Wear, but it's very drying on my skin. I share your frustration with the pores, etc. however, I've just made up my mind that very, very few people are going to be THAT close to me ever, so I've kind of given up on a flawless look when I don't have flawless skin. I don't use a primer - I can't find one I like so I'm using a combination of powders, setting it first with Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and follow up throughout the day with a slightly heavier foundation powder (Milani Multitasker) and that seems to get me through the day. It’s frustrating I know but I don’t think FOUNDATION is going to give me a flawless look, it’s just not, so why would I pay $65 for something I can get for under $20? By the way, Amazon sells Bourjois products and so does ASOS.

Angie, your skin looks so pretty without the foundation. Your skincare routine is totally working for. I'm so impressed!!! I actually thought your skin looked flawless when you did it the first time. Very youthful and with just the right amount of glow. I get what you mean about close up though. That's my problem too. I wish I could find something that looks great far away and close up.... Shoot, I'd settle for *good* close up. I think my skin looks better without anything on it. I can't stand seeing the product settling in my pores and wrinkles. Goodluck with the search. I'm so hoping you find a winner! :)

Loving your foundation Friday videos, Angie! Can't wait to see you review the Infallible next week. I have been using it since it came out and it's my fave foundation ever! I have never had a foundation that stayed looking good for as long as this one does. Just know that it does apply very matte and can cling to dry bits of skin, so just be sure you exfoliate very well prior to applying and you will hopefully love it. I find it applies best for me with damp beauty blender :)

Angie, Honestly i think both times it looked the best at the very end of the day, ESP with primer. Even tho your redness came out, you looked very fresh and pretty at the end of the second day. Maybe use an HD powder foundation with color (Urban Decay does a nice one, same with graftobian) to set with and see how that wears! I have had great luck doing this over thin, dewy foundations like this. It helps with the pore situation a lot, and DEFINITELY the wear.

Love this series!!! As a foundation junkie I've tried a million, but the only thing I've used continuously is the tarte mineral powder. I don't know what it is about liquids but they just never work for me! Good luck with the fusion ink, I laughed at how they claim 24 hour wear. My oily skin gobbled it right up! FYI Angie, on the 15th (or so) of this month Two Faced is coming out with a new foundation called Born With It. I have seen it demo-ed and it's gorgeous. Skin like and weightless, highly pigmented, medium to full coverage. It has blurring agents to hide wrinkles and pores. What has me excited about it is that it's a matte, but it contains hylauronic acid to keep your skin soft so you get a gentle glow without the 'glow' if you know what I mean. Looks like it's going to run 39.00. It's a fast drying formula so I am concerned that perhaps alcohol may be up on the list, but you may still want to be on the look out for it. I'd love to see what it does on your skin since mine is similar to yours.

Sweet Serenity Oh how I wish I could wear powder foundations again. I'm 50 and don't have a lot of wrinkles, but for some reason mineral or powder foundations sink into every wrinkle I do have! It may be our weather here. I live in Florida and it's very humid here. They might not do it in a dryer climate. I found out when I went to Reno for vacation that my skin acted differently in the dryer air. Maybe that's it?

I love these videos, Angie, I admire your ability to wear a foundation that is *hard work coping with* for 3 days in most cases, in order to give everything a fair trail. I just watched this one today and was so interested to see what you thought as the Bourjois Health Mix Serum for me, works equally as well as Estee Lauder Double Wear. I can't tell the difference when I wear one or the other, longevity, pores etc. I have stuck with these two for the past few years and I am a serial quitter, think I have tried every foundation ever made and if I hate it as soon as I wear it, it is gone, gone, gone and no second chances!

Thank you Angie. Really appreciate all the work you do. Have you tried The Balm cosmetics foundation. It is really nice. It can look heavy but I use one small drip of oil on my brush before applying. It is for me with dry skin long wearing and it does not feel heavy at all. The cover is flawless and you do not need a primer. There are not many shades and if you try it try a shade darker than you normally would pick. For everyday I use revlon color stay or Bourjois cc cream. I also have tried anything high end or drugstore. Funny that when you are young you worry about the color of your eyeshadow and now about how your skin looks. I am now almost 53 and I discovered large pores on my nose recently. Not happy about that at all!

Hi Angie, have you ever tried the Chantecaille? It is a bit high-end, but worth the $$ I think. I am 56 with lots of fine lines and some deep wrinkles. Monika Blunder recommended it to me and I love it. Sometimes i mix it with my drugstore brands ( when I want a darker tanned look) and it works well that way too. In my opinion it blends well and does not look like it is sitting on the skin so much. There is no magic foundation at my age...but to date for me this one looks the classiest and healthiest with med/full coverage. Thanks for all the time you put into testing things for us

Hi, Angie. I'm enjoying this foundation series - thanks for sharing. I can really identify with your issues. When I started going through menopause a year and a half ago, I had to abandon my favorite foundation, and went on the search for something that wouldn't accentuate my dry patches and fine lines. A couple that I've used and like are from Rimmel. Both the Match Perfection and the Lasting Finish foundations have worked for me - and you can't beat the price. The Lasting Finish gives a fuller coverage than the Match Perfection, but the Match Perfection feels less heavy on the skin.

Angie, thank you for doing all the testing! May I suggest testing the Bourjois 123 perfect foundation and 123 perfect CC cream. I much prefer both of these to the one tested here. There is nothing wrong with using a little concealer here and there.

Actually I think this foundation looked really beautiful on you, even in the close ups. When I look at my own skin close up, I have a very critical eye too, and all I see are the lines and pores etc. I see what you mean when you examine your skin really close up, but honestly out of all the foundations you've tested, this one makes you look like you have beautiful SKIN, not just nice makeup, even at the end of the day when it's wearing off. And up close, I had to really look closely for the pores and flaws that you mentioned. 😊

Thanks for these reviews! Reviewing every foundation out there is a daunting task. I wish there was a way you could review the after effects of the foundations. For me some of them look good the day I wear them but then the next day I have obvious clogged pores and redness. I think it might be some of the chemical sunscreens (or some other chemical) they put in them. My favorites now are Omorovicza's "Complexion Perfector" (light) in the dry winter and Yves Rocher's "Zéro Défaut Flawless Skin Foundation" in the sweaty summer. Neither breaks my skin out. But they're both fairly light coverage.

abunchahooey Yes, I though the same thing about this foundation, although this one is different from the other "mousse like" foundations I have tried. It actually has a natural matte like finish which is hard to attain but this one does it. and it lasts! I have beyond oily skin especially in the summer months and I need something to withstand NYC summers which are very humid and sticky. I have big BIG pores on my nose and T Zone and this foundation evens me out, disguises my pores and seems to control my oil and grease throughout the day. I live in Florida so humidity is an issue. I've tried Loreal lumi, covergirl 3 in 1, various cc creams, high and low end, Dr. Perricone serum.. One pump a Real Techniques buffing brush and wow. I also purchased the loose powder in medium shade ( I think) . I use the powder alone (over sunscreen and moisturizer of course) for those days when I am just on the run and don't want to have a full face of makeup. When I add up all the money I spent looking, it was over what I paid for one bottle of this foundation. Pricey for sure but at my age I tend to invest in the skin rather than eye pallets and all the other makeup products. I think they are fun and enjoy watching the younger women use them. See if you can get a sample to try. I went to the Estee Lauder counter and asked for a sample before I bought a bottle.

Hi Angie. Love your reviews. I do the feel you could be slightly mistaken regarding borjois. You used a very light color. Try light bronze and then forget your bronzing powder. I use it with the hourglass lighter shade luminous bronzer as my blush. For an extra bit of illumination, which may not even be needed, I use the tatcha Luminous dewy skin mist. I apply this mist on a brush. DON'T SPRY IT directly to face as instructed. I also like the healthy mix foundation. I listed to the Wayne Goss review and do feel that with the help of botox, freckle laser etc. Full coverage is an unnecessary too high of a reach. All we need is some radiance. I have tried all the designers and beyond and love the borjois line. This Tatcha mist is excellent also, even though Paula pulls it apart. However, for skin moisturizer, I use prescribed dermatologist product. So when you used the Healthy mixed foundation and your family admired it, that beats all. Does a little alcohol really matter if you counter it with dermatologist recommended skin product? Also, why poison yourself with SPF everyday if your not in the sun?

I love your candor and your reviews are much needed for us 50 something's!! I always look forward to your video's. Thanks for going through the hassle for us. I did purchase my own Bourjous healthy mix foundation (not the gel) and I've gotta say that I use that in comparison with the L'oreal visible lift and at times I like the Bourjous more but at other times, the L'oreal. I'm glad that I can find a drugstore brand that does work as my budget is limited. I have normal to dry skin with the t-zone issues and still find that with both, I still need to blot. I notice that you don't blot in-between your demo's. That would be helpful maybe to incorporate that aspect?

It would be great if cream foundations like thebalm foundation are put into test. I always wonder if a thicker more solid consistency will perform better

Angie---it you are around Nordstroms, pick up a sample of the Sisley foundation...would love to know what you think! I got the same samples that you just showed in this video last month. I look forward to seeing if we agree! I hope that at the end of this series---or once in a while---you will update us on your top five current faves.

I wonder how this would work on mature skin that is very dry. My skin is NEVER shiny and somewhat oily after a few hours. Just more and more dry and somewhat dull. I had wondered whether it would be worth it trying to buy it online, but it doesn't sound from your review that it would be. Nice to hear your thoughts, and I appreciate that you share your experience with these different foundations.

Love this video as always. I have been on the same journey in trying to find my HG foundation. I think I have! I don't know if you have Lise Watier cosmetic in US ( I am in a Canada). I have been using the Lise Watier Teint Lift SPF 20 foundation. Labeled as anti- wrinkle, firming and moisturizing foundation. I believe it does all of this and more! No emphasizing pores and can be layered. It is a medium coverage but can be sheered out or even layered to full coverage. I prefer light to medium. I bought this months ago but got a shade too dark and could not return. I pulled it out last week as I am a bit darker fro. Self tan and I can't believe how much I love it. I think I have most of the foundations you have reviewed or more lol! I hope you get a chance to try this gem! :)

This is Lisa Eldridges fav to.Wow you put on what I use in a week :)Sometimes less is more. I use thsi foundtion and yes its not heavy coverage at all.I love it.I sheer it right out and don't use all over my face (am wearing it in my pic). I never smell anything at all. Love it totally .But I don't have much to cover, then just spot conceal :) If you want more coverage try the 123 CC cream by Bourjois.Nisha loves it xx

Laura Hopkins It's my favourite too. I'm 58 and have issues with fine lines and enlarged pores. But this foundation evens out my skin tone beautifully. Like you, I also sheer it out to such an extent that it looks as if I'm not wearing makeup. I receive so many compliments every time I wear this foundation. I don't wear a primer with it but will always make sure that my skin is moisturised properly before applying makeup. I also use a translucent setting powder with it.

If you get a chance, could you review the Physician's Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow foundation? It's a really light formula but gives a LOT of coverage. It's what I'm currently using and liking, but I'd love your opinion! Thank you for these reviews, they are fantastic!!

Angie, are you wearing the same exact primer, using the same foundation brush and use the same settling powders throughout your testing? We know how they can effect the results. I was at the drugstore yesterday and Almost bought three different ones to try out but changed my mind and decided to wait and hear your thoughts first. One of them was one of the three you mentioned that you are planning to test out. What I love about your research is the 5 hours, 11 hours result. In my personal search I am thinking about the ultimate goals I need to achieve, the flawless, put together looking result or the healthier, younger looking overall result. Therefore I am looking for two very different foundation.. one that works for a prolonged days or nights, probably a mat foundation and the other for when I can get away with wearing makeup only for few hours, probably a luminous one with the help of concealer and primer.

Something2entertain Hi there~ I tend to use the same primer and setting powder in most of these tests because I always reach for my favorites first, but there will be exceptions… for example in the Dior Nude Air testing I tried it with Smashbox Light primer first and it didn't go well, so then I tried it with Tarte primer… Anyway, like you, I'll probably like different things for different days depending on how polished I need to be, but it would be nice to find more than one option for each type of situation!

Love your videos! The closest I've found has been It Cosmetics CC cream (which you recommended). It is pretty close to holy grail status as far as I'm concerned. I've never gotten so many comments on my "gorgeous skin." Not bad at 55+!

THANK YOU so much for this video series. When you do find the holy grail, I will be ready to purchase stock in it! We have many of the same skin issues, except my oil is on the level of insanity and I have deep forehead wrinkles and am not willing to get botox. I just have to accept them. But, I don't want to be digging foundation out of them after an hour either. I also think if you were to find the holy grail of primers, it might make the foundation issue much easier to solve. Why does it have to be so difficult, right?!
