This foundation has taken over as my holy grail. It knocks my other two off their thrones. After wearing this all day (under a mask for 8 hours), it still looks almost as though I just put it on. After taking it off, my skin is super soft and the mask-nee I constantly kept on my chin completely cleared up after wearing this for just one week straight. I’m scared now to use any other foundation. I can wear this with or without a primer and it’s beautiful. Two of those small pumps covers my entire face. I love this so much, I bought a shade (Monte Blanc) for when I’m not tanned at all and one shade (Patagonia) for when I’m at my darkest tan.

Hi Angie; I think the Nars Light Reflecting foundation is fabulous! I use it also as concealer as it is super thin, but highly pigmented and doesn't crease on me at all like traditional concealer formulas do. I am 53 with fine lines and wrinkles and I mean zero creasing. I pair it with the Nars light Reflecting pressed powder which I have used for about five years. It is super hard pressed so it may look like hard pan straight out of the package but it just needs a good natural hair goat brush (I use either my Rae Morris or Wayne Goss brushes) to pick up the product and it just knocks back the sheen of the foundation as I don't like any shine in the under eye area. It is truly translucent on my brown skin and is virtually invisible. Thanks for sharing

Angie, Thank you. I feel when you buy a fairly pricey foundation you shouldn't have to add everything else setting sprays etc. These days money is getting tougher to spend it on the expensive stuff when everything else is so expensive "food". I think these companies need to help our pocket books out. Also, I love when you try drug store makeup. It surely helps my pocket book. Any chance your doing one for spring/summer? @Dana Prahl Sorry ladies I disagree. Skin differences, be that you are dry, or oily. Age differences. Acne scars and or enlarged pores. Many of the higher products, a lot of them have very good ingredients in them. You can buy a cheap foundation, that has absolutely no skin care. And ingredients you can barely pronounce. Primers and setting sprays. A primer is to help your skin beforehand. Most women don't realize, their own skin care can be a perfect primer. And as for setting sprays. If you're using any type of powder product. I've been using a setting spray, since I started wearing makeup, 1996. Back in the time that I would use the setting spray, when it wasn't around. I would use glycerin, triple distilled water, and a bit of aloe. Simple as that. It would make my stage make up last a long long time. I actually learned the secret, from a woman that would come in and do our makeup, teaching us what we had to do, for the following ballet that year. She's the one that taught us how to make this. Things that work don't have to be expensive. And, I feel a lot of people overuse their products. Overuse their foundation. Overuse their creams and lotions and even primers. And needless to say if you're buying an expensive product, even though that they can have the best ingredients. Sometimes those ingredients can work against you because you already have the proper face Care on that works flawlessly. I'm 45. I use way less product on my skin now. So those of us that are middle-aged or more. We can actually get away with a little more expensive product. Because we don't use it, trying to cover imperfections. When we overly cover them they fast become the most prominent and most noticeable. I have always lived with the motto make do or do without. And when you do without, you just start a little tuck away fund. Rome was not rebuilt in a day. Would you buy a product, that was inexpensive, wasn't the greatest. But you got it because it was cheap. Yet it dries your skin out, isn't the very best, you don't look your best. Or would it be better to just go natural, do a few little touch-ups here and there around our eyes and putting on our eyelashes. Mascara and or eyelashes can make any woman look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. The eyes go straight to the eyes. In the meantime you can save up for your most favorite quality product. Certain stores will have big sales at certain times of the year. Save up for exactly that. If you don't buy a lot of products in your older. Maybe your loved ones buy more. And they will receive a better sale price. Such as Sephora. Getting that 20% discount you have to spend a lot to get it. So then connect with those you love. Save for your most favorite pieces. And then purchase them through them. Where there is a will there is a way. And darling, yes those things make a huge difference. Especially for the type of skin we have. And I can understand the qualm of wanting something and not being able to have it. But I'll tell you what, it's better to go without, and then when you finally receive what you enjoy what you use and what works. It's all that much better. Truly. Good things come to those who wait. Always.

Yeah, while I’m super happy for her that she’s grown this channel into an amazing business for herself…success always comes with more partnerships and companies trying to use her follower #’s for their marketing needs. So she’s obviously able to play with more expensive products…which isn’t always the most practical (especially the hair growth and skin lights! Ugh $$$) Sigh. But it’s also interesting to see how some of these things work…as I do trust she’s being very honest! Hope that never changes, no matter how much someone pays her to push their products!! 😂

I had similar experience with this foundation. For me, it just worked over the La Roche-Posay anthelios ultra fluid sunscreen. Other “thicker “ sunscreen made the foundation flaky. When I got it to work it was beautiful. I warmed small quantities of it with my fingers and applied to small areas because it dries quickly. A little bit goes a long way. In summary, it’s finicky but when it finally agrees with the skin and sunscreen, it looks really nice. I am in my mid 59’s, for reference, so all the pores, dryness, wrinkles conditions apply to me :)

It works great with Milk gripping primer, 2 pumps, sponge application definitely not a brush. It doesn’t like Hourglass primer or the Bobbi Brown face base in my experience. It was the best of the new foundations I tried: Charlotte, Kosas. Chanel or MUFE. I must have drier skin because I definitely cannot wear the last two. The flashback is likely coming from your mineral SPF you wore the first two days. On top of it all, I found my perfect shade match and undertone on the first try and that never happens! I wore it with CT powder yesterday, no setting spray and it did not come off under my mask. It has the perfect finish for me. Not too matte not too glowy. Perfect coverage, not too thin not too thick but makes me look flawless. I just love it on my mature skin. Actually I thought it looked like one of the best foundations on you on the last day but I know you prefer a more matte finish ❤️ I wish I could wear the Chanel but it is sooo dry on me and the scent whoa 🤕 🙊

This is the 2nd Nars fndtn I try, and I like🙆♀️. I find it is a good one and looks fine on my combo/mostly dry skin. However, these days, I am more leaned towards using skin tints, which is rare, because I used to dislike them, as I thought skin tints only dirts the face.🤣😂 But it's great that nowadays skin tints are being formulated with a bit more coverage without disrupting the lightweight feeling on the skin.

@@AngieHotandFlashy Exactly. On days that my skin is dry, usually because of excess exfoliation, this one doesn’t even give me color! However when my glow is back, I just prefer a satin-matte finish. I wear it as infrequently as possible, but if I do wear foundation I can’t wait to wash it off- the minute I get back home I cleanse it all off. Now I’m in my 60s however I have some discolouration and broken veins. Interesting to see your experience with the NARS and all the variables you tried. This foundation is actually my new favorite. I’m 52 with large pores, lots of discoloration. My HG sunscreen is the Paula’s Choice wrinkle defense and I always use a primer (Laura Mercier Canvas) and a setting powder (Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Filter). I don’t use setting spray. It always looks beautiful. I’d suggest trying it again with the Elta MD/Paula’s Choice sunscreen with a primer because I think overall, primer is key to this foundation. I haven’t tried applying it with a sponge yet - only a brush. I’ll definitely give that a go given your experience. Thanks so much for all your videos!

The foundation is such an interesting thing. I am 41. I have normal to slightly dry skin. I don’t have a lot of wrinkles. I have a tiny bit of texture but overall I have skin that is healthy and in good shape. Out of all the foundations that came out last winter this one is my holy grail. I have never used a foundation that I have loved as much as this. I find the combination of this foundation with the new tatcha sunscreen and the ultra facial moisturizer by Kiehl’s to be a match made in heaven. I don’t need any primers. I did use a tiny bit of hourglass finishing powder. 10 hours later my skin still looked glorious.

Thanks for the review! I tried this one recently with a sample and didn’t care for it. I have very dry skin and didn’t like how my skin looked after a few hours.

I love this foundation and I have normal maybe a little dry skin. I love my color match that I got done at Sephora. I use my fingers and then press it down with a damp beauty blender and it works great. I don’t use a primer, setting spray, or powder and it lasts on me between 6-8 hours, but I don’t really need it to last longer and I can touch up with it if I’m going out in the evening. Thank you for your review.

I got a free bottle of too faced born this way yesterday, which I’d never tried, and it was really nice! Lightweight, natural finish, decent coverage and I didn’t feel like it made my pores or lines look worse (dry skin and chemical sunscreen). That might be one to try.

Such a thorough and well made review! Thank you! I am sticking to my Dior Forever Skin Glow since many years, but am interested to try this on my 59 years old and dry skin with rosacea. And I am hesitating. Some says this Nars is sooo good and others not so much. And of course it depends not only on your type of skin, but in what kind of climate you live in. So it all ends up in that one need to try it oneself. But that fact doesn not mean that I don’t appreciate such a great review video as this. 😊

I love this foundation. I don’t have all the problems you had. Nars says to apply this foundation with you fingers. I use LaRoche posay sunscreen. I use Nars pressed powder. Stays all day. I always have trouble around my nose no matter what I do.

So glad to know someone else had the same results with this foundation that I did. I returned it. Please keep us updated about any primer you may find that works as well as the beauty blender primer that is now discontinued (I think). Love how that works under my Estee Lauder Hydra Rescue.

@@cutazabutton I bought it a couple months ago when it came out and everyone was saying how wonderful it was. I returned it right away. I am in Central Valley California. I have never had a problem returning to either store. If your local store is making it hard to return hopefully you have another location near to you that you can try. If not contact Ulta on app or online. They have always been helpful for me also. Good luck!

Maybe because I have terribly dry skin and am pretty fair, but I've never found a NARS foundation that sat well on my skin. That enough made this a maybe try a sample foundation, but I'm not willing to blind buy -- particularly when I have a gorgeous, no fuss foundation in the Chanel No. 1.

I almost bought this multiple times. I think I’ll pass. I don’t want to have to play around with a foundation this much. I basically use 1 sunscreen. Who has time or money to buy multiple sunscreens and change them according to foundations. Thank you for doing this.

Years ago, in my 20’s I wore a liquid foundation by Clinique that worked well, but still hated how it felt on my face. Then I switched to powder foundation, and there are so many good ones out there that don’t make your face look powdery. I just can’t do the liquid, after putting on my skincare, and my sunscreen, I just can’t add another layer of makeup. Plus, chime in if this is you, it’s makes my face sweat, not too lady like ! 😂🤣 Living in a desert climate doesn’t help either. I wish Angie would try out powder foundations, but I don’t think she will. My HG is the Fenty Beauty. I’ll always be an Angie fan, unless she decides to do reviews on only liquid foundations exclusively. 🤔

I bought this foundation and I don’t like it at all. It made my pores look huge, it was patchy and wore badly. It did blend nicely upon application though 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve recently bought the Chanel No 1 on your recommendation - it’s WONDERFUL. Thank you for trialling it. Another one I love is the Tom Ford stick foundation (can’t remember its proper name). I got it half price at an outlet store near where I live (in England) and it’s jolly nice. Have you had a go with that? And a wee request: on your links where you can use your Angie promo code, is there any way you could ask the retailers if they’ll extend it to we Brits please? Thank you!

As a woman of a certain age with dry skin, when I hear a foundation dries fast, I'm OUT! That tells me it's drying. My skin doesn't do well with so called long wearing foundations. I never have a problem with foundation breaking up or wearing off. Dry skin, just sucks the moisture content out of the foundations and just leaves a film of pigment. Which looks makeupy. As is I overpowered. And I prep my skin like crazy with hydration. So far my favs are dry mature skin are Rare Beauty foundation (not the tint), shiseido Synchro Radiant Lifting Foundation and Kosas Foundation.

I was thinking of trying this one! So crazy the varying results because so far my holy grail is Armani with Australian Gold tinted sunscreen as my only primer. I have combo skin and am 51 and just started finally using tretinoin. The Armani leaves my skin looking a little dewy but I’ve tried the Chanel and it was heavy and settled in to every flaw. This one is on my list to try. I love watching your videos, Angie!!

i recently bought this foundation and I pair it with the laura’s geller baked balance and brighten foundation powder in my t zone. I have people say that my skin looks skin like and airbrushed. i apply it with a dense brush and use the benefit setting spray. For my concealer I use the tarte h20. I am 53 and hate where my wrinkles are but I found that when I use the Laura Geller spackle primer and prep my skin, I have great skin days. it wears for at least 12 hours and I can make it look fresher with a spritz of setting spray and a little Balance and Brighten.

Really appreciate your very thorough and honest reviews. I noticed another Word of the Day: "pounce", which I think should be "bounce". Don't we bounce our beauty sponges over the skin, as opposed to spring or swoop suddenly so as to catch prey?

Thank you Angie, it's rough for me now at 61 to find a good foundation. You have beautiful skin! I am founding less foundation these days looks better and lasts throughout the day. I have very dry skin so very different than you but I feel as i've tried the Nars, Charlotte T, and others that just look like foundation and sinks into to my skin in a not very nice way. You do look fabulous in the NARS for sure. I have been using the Chanel No1, Ilia, Kosas which are much thinner foundations and seems like they do me good. When I wear my thicker foundations, they just seem to creep into my grooves lol. Thank you as always for sharing all of your experiences with foundations, I love your videos.

Thank you for this review Angie. There’s been so much hype over this foundation, I felt like I *needed* it and have had trouble getting a shade match online. I plan to get to Sephora &/or Nordy late this month to get shade matched, but after your review, am rethinking this. I have several foundations that work well for me. I’ll stick with those!

@@AngieHotandFlashy Well it looks great. Now I applied at 4 pm and just got back from dinner (8:45) so that wasn’t very long. I used it over the MUFE Pore Minimizer primer (which is excellent) and it worked well together. I’ll have to try them again for an all day wear test. I’m super oily so I do blot and powder.

This was a great video for me to see how much affect products used under and over the foundation and tools used to apply the foundation impact the final look. I have struggled to find what works for my mature complexion (67 ugh). Oily t-zone, breakouts (hormonal I think), dry patches, major flaking after foundation application. Makeup always wears off nose and chin, flakes AND creases under eyes. Tried everything asked everyone for advice. Very confused.
