Update: since posting this, I have learned that all these blocks are found in the 52 blocks system. Some are techniques I learned in Silat, but apparently there´s some crossover with 52 blocks, which makes sense, since there are only so many ways to block a punch.
Here are four martial arts blocks that require no talent, skill or finesse. Well, the first three anyway. And the best part is, they actually work! Some of these are derived from Silat or Kali, one from boxing, and one from 52 Blocks of all things.
1. Parallels.
2. Peekaboo Plus.
3. Single Wing or Cover.
4. Wing and Beak.
Because these blocks are mostly instinctive and require no skill, they can be used in emergency situations when someone throws an unexpected punch. All these blocks are based on simply putting some body mass between you and the punch, and basically taking the hit on your arms or elbows.

Sabeel combines the highly effective entries of Silat and Kali with the devastating throws and joint locks of Hapkido. There are also influences of Japanese Jujitsu and Karate. In Sabeel we keep only what works and discard the rest.
