Bravo to the team for keeping Mike involved and trying to make it seamless. We are missing the in room dynamics but so far, good work.

Can we please get an updated top 10 trick takers? Especially hearing Mike’s favorites. There’s been so many in the last couple years. I want to know what’s the best!

Bridging is a solid pun for discussing trick taking games. Also Mike's great, and I'm glad people are enjoying these videos with him. -Chris

I appreciate that Mike's bits appear to have been filmed in chronological order such that he could remark on what the others said previously in the video as the others could about what he had just said. I could imagine how it would've been easier to record both groups completely separately and splice it in later.

FYI Taylor's Trick Taking Table called Bacon the best 6P climbing/shedding game (the 3v3 mode). And loves the 2v2 mode, as well. I think it fills two roles: If want to play a climber/shedder with 6 people, this is the game to play. If Tichu sounds too difficult for your group of 4 to learn/enjoy, this is the game to play. I'm guessing DT might have missed the sense of urgency of getting one person on your team out and the subtle importance of getting to choose who on your team leads after winning a trick.

Thanks for this review! These just arrived this week and excited to play them. Scout was definitely my most played of 2023, so anxious to see how it's cousin Bacon will fare in 2024. I feel like Scout had just a smidgeon more depth but the theme was always a weakness for me. Diner food is an improvement! Lunar seems to have a bit of "Cat in the Box" meets "Crew" vibes - definitely looking forward to that one. Mori looks gorgeous and just deep enough and that might have to come to the table first. And Pies...well that is definitely going to be featured at our very geeky celebration of "Pi Day" on 3/14, if not before. (But I still have a few other trick-takers from Zee's A-Z list that I need to get to the table, too. I see a dedicated trick-taking day in our near future!)

38:35 I think the .14 is there to break ties. For example, if someone played a 13, and someone played a 10 with a Pi(e) token, that person would have 13.14, which is more than 13.

That seems like a good pie breaker.

Yes, it's a tie breaker. I just thought it was a little gimmicky that's all. I understand it won't bother many people.

Thank you very much to all 4 of you for these 4 great reviews. I love your reviews. All four games seem interesting and I would like to try them all. But Mori seem like the coolest and like I personally would enjoy the most. Second best seems Lunar for me.

In Latin, it'd be pronounced "Mor-ee". I makes a long E sound, the long I sound is made by "ae" Speaking of Mori, it looks really unique. Would love to try it out. Same with Lunar

Mori is the favorite, but its main gimmick is a revolving trump suit and pass cards. Boast or Not does both of these but in a much more distilled design. Can’t wait for Portland Game Collective to renew it this year. Edit: ha! Mike mentions this as well.

Im old , i played Bacon over a10000 times with a deck f cards since the mid ninties. Edit pie would it ve crazy to say that it is a Drafting/auction game masquerading as a tricktaking game , instead of passing the cards they get displayed and they are also your turn order bid.

"Memento mori" (yes, it's MOR-ee) means "Remember you must die". Memento mori art contains symbols representing death, like skulls (duh), but also flowers and fruit (things that wither and die). Then there are objects like jewelry, musical instruments and coins (which represent the material things we leave behind). All of which has nothing to do with the game - well, it does have to do with the art choices - but once I learned this, I started noticing how many still life paintings were actually about death. It makes visits to art museums more interesting.

23:09: I believe you've got the arrows backwards. You can read the arrow as 'trumps', so green (Spring) would trump purple (Winter) if it were lead. The intention is that each season is trumped by the one that follows it, though you're not the only one confused by the board, as seen by some comments on BGG.
