I miss beaver lake. I grew up swimming at hippy hollow and lost bridge. It was a great place to grow up.

Hi Barry. Love your show. Such a great mix of different fish species, ideas and fishing techniques.. On your stuff that matters... I worked for years with a PHD that said, no matter how great that you think you are, the cemetery is full of indispensable people. A real reality check.......... Good fishing to you.

They are called brood minnows. They are basically a big shiner. Best bait you can use is gizzard shad from the lake.

Stripers eat all fish. Bass to Carp. Seen it many times. Then people wonder why all the Small mouths & Spots have gone away.

You're misinformed. The AR dept of conservation does surveys (as does MO in Norfork and Bull Shoals) and they feed almost exclusively on gizzard shad - they'll also eat threadfins and shiners on occasion. If you're not catching smallies or spots then thats on you. Science vs myth. The same uninformed argument gets made about Musky in southern waters and yet Pomme in MO and Kincaid in So IL are both outstanding bass fisheries even though they're full of musky. Nothing else eats those big shad so they're providing a valuable resource to keep the system healthy.

Live baits are preferred for beaver. Most people use brooder minnows, and shad. Not too many go after them with artificial but I have caught plenty on them.
