Why can't we have more priests like Fr. Waltz that want people to understand the spiritual fight we're in? Today at daily mass my "priest" told us it is our job as followers to shepherd ourselves lol, that if someone asks him a theological question about the faith or is questioning their faith he tells them to "look it up" because it "isn't his job to teach them or help them." Yet we wonder why so many Catholics don't believe in the True Presence of Jesus in the Host...

I was raised atheist and was an unbeliever all my life. My grandparents were Serbian Orthodox but unfortunately my parents rejected religion. When I started to have some doubts about my lack of faith I chose one particular Saturday to visit an Orthodox church service (I was too shy to start out with the full Sunday worship). Afterwards I wanted to talk to the priest but got intimidated and had literally just walked out the door when a woman stopped me and said hello. She introduced me to the priest as he was locking up the church. That priest spent two hours standing outside with me in the freezing cold as the sun went down answering every thorny theological question I had with great wisdom but an honest "I don't know" whenever it was appropriate. It turns out he was studying for his doctorate in theology so he was exceptionally prepared to disarm atheist arguments. Doubts that I thought were insurmountable were demolished one by one. I felt so welcome and understood! He invited me to worship the next day and we spent another couple of hours discussing theology during the fellowship afterwards. That was the beginning of my Christian education and the spark that lit my faith. Now imagine if that priest had replied to my inquiries with "I don't have time for this, you'll just have to look it up". I'm sure God would have drawn me in some other way but who knows how much longer it would have taken! I probably wouldn't have gone back for months. I was so mired in "intellectualism" that I really needed a guide to help break through those defenses in order to feel the faith that lay dormant in my heart. Interestingly, the actual priest of that particular church is kind and good but not really one for in-depth discussions, it so happens that the priest I met was from another parish but filled in for him that weekend because he was ill. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that God sent me to THAT church on THAT evening because he knew EXACTLY what I needed in order to start my journey at that point in time. God is so good!!! Anyway, sorry for the novel, your comment just really struck a chord with me. In these increasingly dark times we need real leadership and spiritual guidance from our priests, whether Catholic or Orthodox. To hear someone essentially tell his parishioners they are on their own really grieves me. I hope he comes around.

@@NMemone Ty for sharing that with me it brought tears to my eyes---God is so awesome! Ironically the priest who says to "look it up" talks about how he was an atheist. Most of his homilies are about science classes he took in college. His homilies sound more like him bragging about how smart he is than him explaining the readings or helping us make our faith stronger by offering us any real perspective on the Gospel of the day. Thanks be to GOD that despite the fact that I also took many of the same science classes as this priest my cradle Catholic foundation was strong enough to withstand the years of secular nonsense in school or I could be the same way. I get really frustrated with his homilies because I can tell his heart isn't in teaching the faith it's so sad because I know he'll eventually cause someone to lose faith due to his lukewarm attitude. God Bless you!

The R rating is actually a GOOD thing for the movie. With this rating it can reach more individuals that NEED to hear the message. Those that understand the message the movie is about can ignore the rating (not allowing it to negatively influence them to misjudge it by the rating)and watch the movie... Why be upset over the R rating? Prejudices about R rating?

I think Nefarious definitely earned the R rating with how it ended. It was really graphic and disturbing.

I have seen 'holy rollers' dismiss movies because of an R rating without knowing anything else about it... this is an issue, make decisions about the substance not the rating.

Exactly and trusting hollyweird to decide what they think is "G" rated is like trusting satan hollywood's master.
