Watched all the time as a child. Loved the cartoons of the 60s.

Watch when all the doors are open at :38 and a man with glasses in a white shirt momentarily appears. That's a caricature of Jay Ward making a cameo apperarance.

Do you know who the others are? a few are obvious, but I don't know a heck of a lot about silent film. I am recently totally falling in love with it though. I especially want to know who the first one is. I am sure there is some movie with an obvious character.

@@fromthesidelines This was my favorite show when it ran in syndication. I used to try to record the soundtracks on my little three-inch tape recorder so I could play them back over and over. The opening title sequence (which was filmed ahead of any of the episodes) is fun to watch on You Tube where you can put it on pause and study the complex action. I would have loved to buy a soundtrack LP. I studied and admired the arch, absurdist and utterly wacky "Fractured Flickers" comedy writing style so much that it still turns up in my comedy writing today. I, too, have the box set on DVD.

Snidley Whiplash is prominently featured in this intro, as is a slightly modified version of Dudley Doright. Definitely a Jay Ward production.

It’s not exactly Snidely, but close enough, especially with keeping in character. The animation was done at pretty much the same time as Dudley Do-Right.

Just picked the complete set on Amazon. The celebrity interviews were great, and the writing was brilliant, Allan Burns and Chris Hayward!

It's been a long time, but I still remember the short with a scene of someone trying to dodge a series of rocks rolling down the hill, and the narration about the character being "Jumpin G. Jehosaphat of Boulder, Colorado"

Might have been Buster Keaton from the movie SEVEN CHANCES (1925). A great scene!

In New York, it was on WOR-TV (Channel 9) on Sundays at 7:30pm in the 1963-'64 season [just before their evening movie].

WHO ARE THE ACTORS? a few are obvious, like Harold Lloyd and Douglas Fairbanks. Who is the first one? Anybody have any good guesses? And what are all the films the cut up? I am only now truly discovering silent film, I am hooked like a dope fiend. I WILL FIND OUT who all the actors are. Any insight? My first guess for the first actor is Clara Bow.

In addition to Clara Bow, consider Pola Negri, Theda Bara, and Gloria Swanson.

Was it KTVU? I was thinking it was on KNTV 11 in San Jose. That was in first-run; maybe it was on 2 later in syndication.
