Ella Fitzgerald was the subject of the song and a play on words 'Ella Has It' - 'Ella Elle L'a'. France Gall was also a part of the Ye-Ye singers from the early 60's with a number of hits. Later she had numerous 80's hits and there so many memorable great french songs by many artists at this time. For many this song is a throw back to a special time.

France Gall started aged just 16 with the wave of yéyé (yay-yay) singers in 60s France but she went on for over 30 years as a vocalist and even came back as a producer shortly before her death in 2018. Her most successful decade was actually the 80s and Ella, Elle l’a (dedicated to her all-time idol Ella Fitzgerald) is her at her best thanks to her fruitful collaboration with her composer/producer husband Michel Berger.

I discovered this song, and France Gall, only recently, and have been taken by it's wonderful musicality. It certainly has an 'International/French' character, with upbeat vocals by France Gall, wonderful instrumentation, and a production that marries it all together so well. The video compliments the music with both great shots of France, layered over wonderful imagery that incites the imagination to the people, places and emotions that the song is trying to capture. The opening with cowbell and then deep bass chords catches our attention that something special is about to happen. The vocals are upbeat throughout, and appreciated by everyone, even a non-French speaker like myself. The addition of horns is like a climax, where the spirit and message of the song hits home, and is reinforced by them. Apparently this song was popular when it came out in many primarily French-speaking markets, like our province of Quebec. However, I feel it could have gained popularity in many English speaking ones too. R.I.P France Gall. You are deeply missed.

'' Ella (Fitzerald), she have it'', that's the exact translation with a french game of word. This song released in 1988 (from the bestseller album ''Babacar''), was actually a tribute to Ella, and wrote by the greatest french composer, Michel Berger, which was the France Gall's husband. He was a famous singer too. He died in 1992 by heart attack. You know many famous songs from him (SOS, covered by Dimash, The World is Stone, covered by Cyndi Lauper, Ziggy by Celine Dion). He wrote two great Musicals (Starmania and Jimmy). France and Michel are a part of France history of music. Michel Berger wrote hundreds of heartwarming songs, you could be touched by many of them (sing by France Gall, Johnny Hallyday of by himself). France was the bigest female star in France, since 1974 and 1992. Mylene Farmer took over.

Hi Johnny, good morning. Yéyé (pronounced yesyes, without the s) is a typically French expression of the 60s. The singers of that time reinterpreted English rock hits, in which we heard a lot of "yeah ... yeah ....". Critics made fun of these singers by calling them the "yéyés".

"La Paradis Blanc" is his last song because he's dead (during a tennis match, for information) and this song, "Le Paradis Bla'c" is about the death and the after. You should make a video about this wonderful song! Michel Berger have also wrote a musical show called "STARMANIA". It talks about the life of a town where everybody wants to become a star. In to the world, this show is called "TYCOON", the English version. Sure you know it! 😉 with Peter KINGSBERRY, Cindy Lauper, etc... If you make a video about this, sure you'll have results! Hey Powerful! Did you know that France Gall is one of those French artists who exported to Europe especially to you in Germany and even in Austria! I also believe that in the 60's or early 70's, she was successful in your country and even sang in Goethe's language. She even appeared on TV shows. For this song "Ella, Elle L'A" (Ella, She'S Got It), a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, released in August 1987 (second single),it once again crossed France by going across the Rhine, ranking No. 1 for 5 weeks but also No. 1 in Austria and even No. 5 in German-speaking Switzerland! It was even classified in Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark even as far as Israel!!! Total: 1,5M copies sold in the world and more than 450'000 in France (certified Siver disc and no.2 in Top 50). If you want to listen to another song from this album entitled "babacar", I recommend the eponymous song released the same year 1987 as the first single for his "comeback" or Débranche (1984) also eponymous song from this album which marks a torunant in her career in the 80's because the sound is more "synthpop-wave" musical genre that we find a lot during this decade with synths, drums and other drum machines. Please respond to the OFFICIAL VIDEOCLIPS first before the LIVES that many ask! Babacar M/V (1987) : kzitem.info/news/bejne/sm-e366VcF9hjY4 Débranche M/V (1984) : kzitem.info/news/bejne/uZdsvY6hn32dq3Y Thanks.Danke!

@@PowerfulReactions Yes in addition it is the song which is the most famous of her in the 80's of this album (maybe the homage to the female singer Ella Fitzgerald) but you should listen to "Babacar" next time, also a chorus heady, the story of a little African baby that she met in 1986, before the release of the song from the eponymous album, before or just after the death of Daniel Balavoine because she was friends with him and it was Daniel who introduced this country to France Gall and her husband before he accidentally died in Paris-Dakar (January 14, 1986, helicopter crash) and France Gall decided to continue Daniel's mission after his death by paying homage to him. Besides there is a song in this album "Evidemment" (Obviously) which was released as a single (3rd) in April 1988. I recomend you "Babacar", you have the link. Danke. I just love her voice. I had heard she went to Germany because of the flood of great girl singers in France. Hardy, Vartan and Gainsbourg. As time goes by I hear some of these songs used in movies and commercials. I smile knowing others will soon find something good. The fact she came back in the 80's and put out this great album shows how great she was.
