I’m here because I drank a tannat at Calais winery, in Fredericksburg Texas. Which was grown and made in Texas. And my goodness. I’m more of a sweet drinker myself. But I can absolutely drink this wine and enjoy it anytime.

Love the Tannat grape. I am a big fan of those dark fruits (dark Scottish raspberries , ripe English damsons, wild Yorkshire bilberries), Pontefract cakes, leather, spice and enough tannins to stop a freight train! Hugh Johnson wasn't wrong when he likened it to the vinous equivalent of "Rugby and Bull Fighting"!

I was looking for information on Tannat, for sure subscribed. I asked my local wine shop for a super bold red, as I usually enjoy strong Cabs, and I go the Garzon and laughed upon first sip. It was exactly what I wanted for cold winters in Canada. Thanks for the information.

It had been noted that a large proportion of the population were living well into their 90's in some areas of south -west France so a study was done. The result was a book called 'The Wine Diet' by Professor Roger Cordier. Tannat wine was keeping their blood vessels clear of fatty deposits

I stopped by my local store a couple of nights ago to look for some Malbec from Argentina, which they had right next to their (small) selection of wine from Uruguay. Their wine guy recommended the same Tannat that you had in this video. I didn't pick it up then but put it on my list to try, I'll definitely go back and pick up a couple of bottles. Would be nice if we saw Tannat more on restaurant wine lists.

I am actually hoarding Tannat wines. It is not a common wine to find where I live so I tend to buy in bulk when I do find it. They tend to be relatively cheap, compared to other grape varieties, so that's a plus. I would say it is not a wine for everyone though, as they are tannic, bold and not very accessible if you are a Pinot Noir or Merlot kind of person.

I went to my local Total Wine and was looking for a Tannat in the Merlot section (cause that’s where the website said it would be). One of the nice managers in the white shirts came up and asked if I was looking for a nice Merlot. When I said I was looking for a Tannat he went “whoa, nobody ever asks for that, so few people know about it”. I thought it was hilarious
