Francis, thanks for the very good video. I want to build with these in Australia, and I will have a double block wall, and it will be rendered on the outside and inside walls. So I have 2 questions: 1) If I want to render it, should I ask for a mould with straight sides, that is, without a bevel on the edges? 2) The blue surrounds on the windows on this house, is it rendered to look like lintels? Or are they concrete lintels?

i wish i had the video but i did see another youtube video show that with the interlocking blocks you actually spend more money on concreting the corners than the mortar used with regular blocks ... but the video sounds correct in saying you can do it faster with interlocking so that will be cheaper .... now i did find this video kzitem.info/news/bejne/k2mDuo6rqmiTmJg that shows a cheap soil mortar that is strong but is it strong enough to get approved by a city building department

I love it but have questions: Is this type of brick strong? How strong compare to real brick? Is the wall made from this brick strong? How strong compare to a normal brick wall? If a car with 40 km/h hits this wall, how will the wall stand up? If it rains for a week on the wall, will it survive like a normal brick wall? Hit the wall with a hammer a few times, will it damage easily? Is this wall better be rendered outside and inside for its protection? Do you make the wall before bricks are dry or after they are completely dried?
@flattail
7 жыл бұрын
compressed earth bricks are quite a bit stronger than regular bricks, and they are very water resistant--you can submerge them in water for a year and they do not lose their strength. Cure time is about 3 weeks, but you can start building with them in about a week if you cure them properly (or build with them immediately if you are not adding a bit of cement, depending on your application). I don't know why we don't see CEB in use much more.

i think for the interlocking if they don't put plaster over the bricks then they can spray on this liquid stuff that prevents water & bugs to get into the cracks but this spray stuff you need to re spray every 3 - 5 years ,, i think that is what's giving a shine to the bricks in the background

Love the video. But don't you require rebars to stabilize CEB buildings?
@DigitalAgeInstitute
5 жыл бұрын
I can tell you that the use of rebars, is an idea which for some reason has taken everybody's minds. There is no need for these rebars, or concrete corners, or "pylons" or "pillars". These, in fact, destabilizes the entire building. The very best you can do is to use blocks (with mortar, though!), and use these blocks also in corners. Ensure that the blocks are sufficiently long, such that they can exactly interlock also in corners. You can build up to several floors with bricks, and NO pillars, or pylons :-)... The house, if it is properly made with mortar, is more stable with brick-corners, interlocking each other.
