Francisco de Asís would be the only consort king that there has been in Spain to this day, in addition to carrying the title of 4th Duke of Cádiz, being popularly known by the nicknames of "Doña Paquita" or "Paquita Custard" for being homosexual and somewhat effeminate. This monarch would be chosen to be the consort of his first cousin, Queen Isabella II of Spain, a position he never desired, serving as king consort until his wife was forced to abdicate. Francisco de Asís is always remembered for his sexual orientation, but his facet as a patron of the arts and architecture or his charitable work is hardly taken into account.
