Moon River is about two lovers, slowly drifting apart as they take on different paths in life, but, however sad that may be for both of them, they know it’s the best thing to do, and as they move on, memories, wether good or bad will still remain. There is still a sense of attachment, felt by the two, “wherever you’re going, I’m going the same”, but they know they’ll have to keep going. This really brings back memories.

For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here's how :) The whole song is based on this one, long chord progression with a single down strum per chord! It repeats about 4 times through the whole song. C, Am, F, C, F, C, Bm7, E7 Am, G, F, Fm, C, Am, F, G The only part that is different is after Frank stops singing at the very end, that part just repeats this: C, Am, F, G Hope that helps out! If you get stuck or need any extra help, I just uploaded a video lesson for this on my channel :)

Me and my boyfriend first got together the day this was released. I remember listening to it with him and thinking it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard and blubbing like a baby. This song is a reminder that some of the most wonderful things in life are finite (we are no longer together) but that's okay! We're all following our moon rivers and often that means parting ways with those we love. I keep on scrolling through these comments hoping he'll be here too commenting , reminiscing ... So far I've had no luck ... (As cliche as this is) Brandon I love you I hope our paths cross again.

This song just means so much to me. It made me go from thinking about that I may be chasing someone that I think I may be falling in love with, to realizing that I mostly am chasing and longing for my own self love and freedom. It made me ponder what I love the most at the core.. expression. I still do feel that this song reminds me of the person I care for.. but it mainly reminds me that I should be chasing my dreams and higher purpose as an individual. So many viewers here don't realize this is a cover of a Henry Mancini song (the guy who created the pink panther theme). It's from the 1960s and the key song for Brekfast at Tiffany with Audrey Hepburn. Moon river is a river in Georgia (USA), where the lyricist Johnny Mercer grew up. The song is actually about a person reliving his fond childhood memories and chasing happiness and impossible goals. Despite the somber tone, it's actually a positive song about realizing that the narrator may never actually achieve their dream/goals, but they enjoy the journey.

Who ever is responsible for putting Frank Ocean's cover of "Moon River" in the ending slo-mo sequence of "When They See Us" is a genius an effing genius!!! The song has nostalgic overtones that takes one back to a simpler youthful time, but it's ending in this movie creates a paradox with the viewer. While it causes one to reflect and feel all the warm & fuzzy feelings of being a wide eyed younger person it pulls at the heart strings when we look at each member of "The Central Park 5" in slow motion and realize that all the great young teenage memories we were pondering over they themselves were denied those very same memories. . Kudos to those that came up with the score of this film as it played extremely well with the cinematography!!! You know it's done well when every time you listen it elicits such a strong and sad emotional response!!! 😭😭💔🙏🏿👍🏿

He is truly at icon status with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain!!! I'm so honored to have this type of genre of creativity impacting my life in this day and age! I prey he can continue making music the way he seems fit and not get lost with the politics of the industry....❤❤❤❤

I'm running (well I'm walking now because i'm typing this) away from the loneliness. Running away from all that and running too....someone else. The original version written by Henry Mancini and performed by Mercer was a classic hit and won an Oscar after it was used in the film, Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was sung by Audry Hepburn and later by the great Franck Sinatra among others through history. This version by Ocean is an interesting take on this famous classic.
