ahhh, just imagine sitting in a movie theater back in 1955 and watching this film on an altec lansing sound system, marvelling at the technicolor visuals.and in the movie------no swear words,no nudity,no snarky dialogue.just good acting, good direction, good script, great songs.and in the moveie house itself, people dressed up for a nite out and well behaved, behavior sorely missed form a bygone era.

Unexpectedly superb! Sinatra is wonderful, drany even. And why Reynolds was thought of a virginal is beyond me. The dreamy sexuality as she perches next to him a smiles is so sweet! I saw this movie when it came out, sitting in the balcony of the College Theater in New Haven with my Aunt Bess and Ioved it then--at age 13--but now I see how rare indeed it was!

He meant that she needed more emotion in the song. Instead of it just being a performance, it needs to be a feeling aswell.

what annoys me about this scene is that Reynolds character is being led into the more "schmaltzy" version by her pianist. Then Sinatra's character accompanies himself, so --no-duh --he's able to milk the song for "warmth." I know the script is simplifying to get an idea across, but man it annoys me every time. It's not HER fault you jazzsplaining jerk, Frank! (his character, not him).
