One of the best Zappa performances, very good musicians, great creativity ! We can hear also some rythmic and melodic influences from Varèse and Stravinsky at times

Not to mention blues guitar playing... a trademark of Zappa is (often-ragged) tuplets with a null first note (or the first note is tied in from the note before...but that's the same thing kinda as just having a rest of the first note). Playing a rest on the downbeat is blues-soloing as fuck. Once you notice this in blues guitar playing you'll wonder how you ever missed it.

One of my all time favorite Zappa band assemblies.Talent that still plays on.The Montana solo is enough to enlighten anyone to Franks ability. Frank your knowledge of music, instruments, and musicians is dearly missed. God has a great band assembled for his/herself. He/she seems to prefer guitar players.

One truly amazing thing apart from the great music: back in the day this was on a televised music show FOR KIDS! The expected audience were teenagers! You can say a lot of things about that era, especially in Sweden at the time there were a bunch of pretty scary political ideas floating around, and other kind of social stuff as well, but still. Imagine a tv guy trying to present stuff like this to kids today, he'd be out of a job in five minutes.

My first concert to see was this band in Houston. The jammed for almost three hours, and during the finale the tore down the stage! I'm serious, while playing Mr. Green Jeans the roadies all of the sudden swarmed the stage, lower the lights, knock off filters, and removing instruments and amps, one by one. I even saw on musician being stuffed in a bass drum box. Zappa was the last to go where the put him on a dolly and trucked him off, still playing...incredible!

Hi friend. If you are new to Zappa I strongly recommend what I believe to be three of his best albums, from the early 70s: "Overnite Senstion" from which Montana comes, "Apostrophe", and "One Size Fits All". I suggest to start with "Overnite Sensation".

Frank seems forced, a little off on Montana, but the band is really precise... wish he would have let them solo more... he was always hogging all the solos. I'm a FZ fan big time also, have listened to him for 30+ yrs. I know that's one of his signature tunes, though. The improv next is great.
