the reason invincible is a “fraud” is because he barely is a superhero. Most of the stories of superheroes we follow have them way more experienced and wise than him. The reason Mark gets his ass beaten is because, he’s still learning. It also has to do with the show literally being a twist on the “Hero finds out he has powers, finds love interest, bad guy threaten her and get defeated” trope lots of superhero story follow. He is the hero. But he takes the beating in order to BECOME the hero.

Invincible does become really really strong. Like most good superheroes he’s holding back cause he’s scared to kill. The one time he doesn’t hold back and listens to his dad he starts beating ass. Same thing with Spider-Man. When he doesn’t hold back the dude can stop a punch from the hulk. It’s every hero’s weakness. If Batman didn’t hold back man would be an unstoppable force and Arkham Asylum wouldn’t have a breakout every 3 months

To be fair to Invincible, when he was struggling with the reanimen, it’s because they were extremely strong and he wasn’t too experienced at the time, and they even managed to keep Omni-Man occupied for some time. When he lost to his father, his father was one of the greatest and strongest Viltrumite Soldiers of the empire, with thousands of years of fighting experience. And when he lost to Battle Beast, he is canonically possibly the strongest being in the universe, who fought the strongest Viltrumite while he had his own guts falling out from the start, and almost killed him in a fight that lasted for days. Also he’s new at being a hero so he’s still learning how to fight and he gets stronger with age, so his powers are basically a watered down version of what they are going to be in the future. 🤓

But taking into account Mark is still very young... I mean, he's only in college, right? And at the beginning of S1, he was in high school? So, not only is ye very young, he's also going up against opponents who are far stronger and more experienced than him, and he couldn't even beat Omni Man because unlike Mark who grew up on Earth, Omni Man grew up on his own home world where things are completely different. Of course, Mark is punch above his capabilities whenever he goes up against stronger, more experienced opponents.

Batman's refusal to kill comes from an incredibly strict principle. He witnessed his parents get gunned down and while that is the surface of his refusal to kill and use guns since (I remember watching the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood, one of the lines in the final fight was I think Jason asking why Joker was still alive. Batman said it would be too easy, meaning that if he ever killed, he wouldn't be able to go back or stop. Batman's restraint from killing when all points to a villain's permanent end making everything easier is truly admirable. Also, a character/superhero doesn't need to kill to be a truly terrifying and formidable foe. As a writer, it's far more terrifying when you create a character who is not only principled but knows they could take a life and it is only by their mercy that a villain continues to live.

@@winternightst7001 Hence why I say it is admirable his restraint. Anyone else might give in and actually kill the Joker...provided he stay dead. We go back to principle here. If Batman crosses that line, he runs the risk of becoming as reckless and murderous as the villains he fights which I think is also a good point in Batman's entire arc. Joker represents complete insanity and the extremes a person without morals will go to, a person who does not value life. Joker is the direct contrast to Batman and his morals and a reminder of what he could potentially become if he decided to start killing villains and making them suffer through every horrible ordeal they put innocent people through. We know Batman's not a perfectly sane character which is why, as frustrating as it is that Joker still lives despite his thousands of insane atrocities, it's crazy that Batman still shows restraint. It indicates that as horrible as the villains may be, Batman knows what he is capable of, and what he can become if he ever crossed that line.

The beatdown his dad gave him is nothing compared to what happens to him in the comics. But after all that, he still holds true to his beliefs despite everything the world threw at him, his body has been broken dozens of his times. His spirit and morality never did. Exactly. In my opinion, people overanalyze it. You don't have to agree with a certain character and his believes to like him. You might've done something different, sure. There are multiple reasons why Batman doesn't kill, ranging from psychological to moral, it's been deeply explored in DC comics and other DC media.

If he ain't gonna 'Finish the job', then why become a vigilante. Fuck on outta here, with your Logic. If you ain't gonna do what needs to be done, then don't dare to spend billions of money on gadgets, costumes, child labor and shit and letting innocent people die cuz you got "StanDArDS".

Bro thinks not murdering perps is a flaw 💀. Batman's origin story came directly from his parents being murdered with a gun. From that moment on, he made sure never to kill or use a gun on his enemies. Him killing would make more orphans like him, only those orphans won't have the money and support afforded to him. Philanthropy does a lot, but only when the charities aren't fronts for organized crime. That's where Batman steps in to keep criminals from abusing money that good-hearted people want to give to those less fortunate.

First off: thank you. I always knew there was always something wrong with Batman's "No kill" policy. The only reason more people are taking notice is because of a certain series called My Hero Academia. To those who don't know, the entire society of MHA uses Batman's "no kill" policy, but since it's on a larger scale, people can almost immediately see everything wrong with it. The main problem being: the heroes create the villains. The reasons might be different but the end result is the same. In MHA, the heroes get paid for every villain they capture, so they make the villains. There's no consequence of death since they got rid of the death penalty, so it feels as though villainous acts are encouraged. Think about it, if you wanted to be a villain and do whatever you wanted with your quirk, you could do so knowing that you won't get executed, no matter how many people you slaughter. And when you get caught, you know it's only a matter of time before someone on the outside plans a prison break, which did happen in the series. Batman does it for his moral code, but every time the Joker or someone else escapes, that's about a dozen people straight up dead. That's another person's life completely snuffed out. That's possibly even another parent/parents who won't make it back home, and that leaves another child to feel the same way as Bruce. There's no such thing as perfection. Intent is but one of the few things that separates the rational man from the irrational.

Honestly hot take: Kratos is a massive fraud Don't get me wrong, he's powerful as hell, but he's barely planetary. There's this massive post on the character rant subreddit of like 130 different showings against Kratos, but to name a few: - Shovel knight canonically beat post-GOWIII Kratos. You can say Kratos wasn't trying, but that's just cope unless you can demonstrate it - Kratos, as of the end of GoWIII, isn't a god anymore. He's a demigod. According to devs, his divinity stayed in the Blade of Olympus after he killed Zeus. He's still referred to as a god due to a definition change to include demigods like Kratos and Atreus, as they didn't want to rename the franchise to Demigod of War - Most of Kratos' best feats are rendered null by context. Like flipping Tyr's temple seemed impressive, but a game director said that he just flipped the temple, which is a gateway between realms, rather than flipping all nine realms themselves - Even during the Greek era at full divinity, is repeatedly said to be able to die to fall damage, vines, and stalagmites - Zeus, considered to be Kratos' strongest foe, was nullified by leather, stunned by a falling column, and his punches are described as bull-killing level (Which Kratos struggles to maintain) - Thor, who LITERALLY KILLED KRATOS in Ragnarok (restarting his heart on a whim just to prove he could), was helpless against a giant who stole Mjolnir and he had to beg for it back - Isaac Clarke in Playstation All-Stars was able to react to and nullify a thunderbolt from Zeus (Which is canon) I LOVE God of War. I think it's a great franchise, I used to regularly wear a Kratos hoodie, I literally went as Thor for Halloween the year after Ragnarok came out. But dear god, Kratos is NOT multiversal. He's generously planetary, and barely city-level. The games make it very clear that he has to rely on his weaponry rather than his raw power. People tend to think that the more violent a character is, the more powerful they are. I hesitate to even call Kratos a fraud because him being omni/multi/universal is just fanon. It's not like Kratos runs around saying how strong he is, at best he discourages people from picking fights with him, fans just think he solos all of fiction. My dude can't even solo his own verse. Ragnarok would've been an hour long if Thor wasn't just trying to fuck with him. It's just so annoying to deal with die-hard meatriders who literally contradict the direct word of the devs themselves to hold onto this fantasy that Kratos is some Goku-level outerversal threat when the motherfucker struggles to open chests and fight mortal-ass bandits.
