Ever time I sit and watch one of these videos that a fan has so carefully and lovingly created, I feel like I’m at Freddie’s funeral. In many ways this is the final goodbye. Of course we have his music but he already gave that to us. For some reason I get choked up watching these videos.

Me too. At first, I thought it was ok to sell/auction Freddie’s personal treasures and belongings since the proceeds will be going to charity. But, the more of these videos that I see, I feel like it’s the end of an era…the finale. I know that Queen’s music with Freddie’s voice will live on, but selling his things to strangers seems so final. I’m 70 yrs old, and my heart is breaking knowing that some of the last bit of Freddie’s life is being broken apart. So sad. 💔😢

Funny how looking at the collection makes me see him as a real person and not just a superstar. The literature on cats really had me tickled. I have mixed feelings about this as well. I wish Garden Lodge could have become a Museum for the deserved Freddie Mercury's memory forever. The public could have seen all of these items where they belonged, where Freddie's artistic eye placed each treasure. A fee could have been charged to pay for the upkeep after Mary & her family no longer resides there. I wonder once Mary isnt with us any longer, will her childten still live there with a newly decorated "more modern look" ? Is the money from the SOTHEBY auctions ALL GOING TO CHARITY? Somehow I highly doubt it. Somewhere I recall it being written that Garden Lodge would revert back to his estate but one never hears if that is truly the case. People all wrote different opinions but they all differ s o it seems like nobody actually KNOWS. I wish Jim Beach would let the millions of Freddie's fans know exactly what happens to Garden Lodge after Mary is no longer alive. Many claim they KNOW, but i somehow doubt any fan could know It just breaks my heart to see all of Freddie's hand selected treasures going to the wealthy bidders who can afford anything they want ... wish Mary would have told Freddie's fans the true details. We loved him and always will. Its at least comforting and joyful to know that the last 7 years of Freddie's life he asked Jim Hutton to live there with him as his partner ( he called him his husband to his close friends). Jims book about the 7 years Freddie was alive when he was living there with Freddie called MERCURY & ME is fun to read !! They truly loved each other according to Peter Freestone & im glad before Freddie died he finally found Somebody To Love ❤️ ITS INTERESTING TO NOTE THE LAST DAYS FREDDIE WAS ALIVE HE ASKED JIM TO GET HIM DOWNSTAIRS TO SEE ALL OF HIS ARTWORK ONE FINAL TIME SO JIM CARRIED THE FRAIL FREDDIE WHO COULDN'T WALK DOWNSTAIRS ALONE & SAT HIM IN A CHAIR THEN TURNED ON THE LIGHT OVER EVERY PAINTING SO HE COULD SEE THEM ALL ONE LAST TIME. HE JOKINGLY DECLARED TO JIM " I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE SO STRONG !! " WHAT A LOSS TO THE WORLD WHEN FREDDIE LEFT US... I WONDER OFTEN WHAT BEAUTIFUL MUSIC HE WOULD HAVE WRITTEN FOR US

I always said the auctioning of Freddy's personal effects was none of the world's business, However when I see items directly related to Queen Band as a whole ,ie red cape, stage outfits, lyrics ,crown i i strongly think they are part of Britains musical history and should be preserved in a museum . Time for PM TO STEP IN. Freddie wanted to be remembered. Selling Queen items off to highest bidder. Sacrilege. From Australia 🇦🇺

The auction is open to everyone, the comments and name calling about Mary selling the items are appalling. It’s her personal decision and life, so everyone needs to get over that. I was surprised how Brian may commented in his IG how distort he was about Freddie’s things being dismantled and sold off. If he’s so distort , he could have funded the purchase of these items ( self funded or with a fundraiser) and than established a museum. At that point he could also donate his early Queen years belongings. Since he hasn’t done that he should keep his views about this auction to himself. I am a huge Queen fan, but this disparagement about the auction is awful, I believe Fred would have told everyone F-off, it’s Mary’s business.

I’m a bit upset actually that it’s being broken up; unlike Bowie’s stuff which is having a museum built around it

I understand that David's art collection was sold not long after his death

@@jodawson5268 some of it was - at Sothebys, i still have the catalogue and watched the online auction. However there is a centre opening in 2025 dedicated to him and performing arts and personally i feel Freddie deserves the same

I appreciate what you are saying and I feel a little sad that his collection is being broken up and moved from Garden Lodge. Freddie was part of a band so his legacy is also theirs. David was a solo artist therefore it's easier to do that.

@@jodawson5268 I see your point thank you although i am still sad :i'm not sure i'd even go to the sothebys exhibition if i was in London this week and has made me less inclined to rush over in '25 for the opening of the DB centre ( except to see bnetters have gotten to know over the past quarter century ! )

I’m sorry. I’m crying. This is so depressing. I get auctioning the antiques and furniture. But the door? The photos. The lyrics. The crown and cape. Should definitely be on display for fans forever.

I’m overwhelmed with this feeling of invasion of privacy even after all these years. I suppose you need to live through having a partner become I’ll and dying within that year horrifically and than have his family come like thieves and take everything out from your home his ours and some of mine…legally and leave an outstanding debt on top of it.

Wonderful treasures of a wonderful man... very sad that it is dispersing. Freddie loved his home, his beautiful treasures. He always said: ; if he dies, bury him with his treasures.. Astonishing Did Mary vacate Garden Lodge? Throwing away everything Freddie had?? That's not why Freddie left his treasures to Mary..horrible..???
