My boss, Mike Barker from Lloyds Bank (he was a funny down to earth north eastern man) decided for our Xmas "do" to go to the Wakefield Variety Club and see Freddie Starr. We all got dressed up (as you did in those days for shows), and it was one of the best nights ever. Freddie Starr, (RIP) was undoubtedly one of the best talents of his day. He could dance, sing, and most of all a comedian. Never laugh so much!

Probably the all round entertainer that show business has ever seen. I watched Britain's Got Talent the other night and the guy that won it, skipped around the stage in a high viz jacket, with the music playing "One More Time" that was it absolutely stupid and not at all funny, another guy wore a pair of pant and posed to look like he was naked and the said, "don`t worry, I`m wearing Pants" again, utterly ridiculous and not at all funny. I could just imagine Freddie Starr on this show and show these idiots how it is really done, they guy was a genius, beautiful singing voice and so funny when he was meant to be funny.
