This waltz is always danced at Danish weddings - before midnight at your wedding day! Denmark is the only country to have this particular piece of music for this purpose: 'Brudevalsen' from balleten 'Et folkesagn' (= 'The Bridal Waltz' from the ballet 'A Peoples Legend') composed by Niels W. Gade 1854. All the guests stand in a circle around the couple clapping their hands - then start to move closer and closer to them - totally fencing them in. Finally they are supposed to kiss!

Having seen many British Royal Weddings I've got to say the Danish Royals sure put the Brits firmly in their place. The emotion on Prince Frederick's face whilst watching his wife-to-be approach was just as it should be.Whenever the Brit' Royals appear in public it usually looks like they'd rather be somewhere else. They could learn a great deal from the European Royals.

The name of the song is "Brudevalsen" (The Bride's Waltz, or The Bridal Waltz) by Niels W. Gade from the ballet "Et Folkesagn". It's a Danish tradition that all newly married couples dance to this piece of music, on the day of their wedding.

petelo s its a Danish tradition to slowly move closer and closer, until they cant move anymore, and then the grooms friends lifts up the groom and cut off some for his sock with a scissor. Sometimes they also cut in the brides wail, but I dont think that many People do that anymore :)

I really love the Danish Royal family, they act as if they enjoy being among the people, un like the Windsors,, who as it has been said before, think themselves much to grand to spare a few more minutes with people, they do the bare minimum, and not with good grace always, the Queen's life has given her a great deal that other people can never have, she is only there because the public are not ready to ask her to go. I would love to own a few race horses, not have to wash and iron.

Umm...My hair is naturally curly...I don't think anything could make it more so. Secondly, I really don't care about the moral goings on in Amelienborg. I only stated that I appreciate the fact that the Danes treat their public with consideration and respect. It just seems to be pure irony, that the British royals act so stock up and detached from their subjects when their personal lives are so sullied. They should show some humility and not act as if they are better than the common Briton.

In case anyone wants to search for it, the name of the ballet is usually translated as "A Folk Tale" in English, and the Royal Danish Ballet still performs the steps of a very old mediaeval court dance to this music at the end. The steps are quite simple (arguably easier to do than the waltz they perform here) but in my opinion much more attractive. It's a beautiful ballet--I wish we saw it more often in the US!

They don't do much, the least they can do is smile to the crowds and show a little warmth...Or is that too much to ask? The Queen, her Majesty, signs a few papers, agrees to whatever the PM and his elected Ministers say and host state dinners...It's not as if the woman has led a hard life. Why does she have to look so sour? Her children run a few charities, but mostly run around whoring up the place, and yet they seem to look down their noses at the common people. They are no better than anyone.

Let me make it clear that I am neither pro or con as per the Danish Royals. I have never been to Denmark, however, I do appreciate the way they show their subjects some respect, whatever their personal issues. They do not act as if doing their public duties is a hassle and they are upset to be down in the midst of the plebes. Unfortunately Queen Elizabeth and her family always seem to look upset about the fact they have to shake a few hands, or speak to ordinary people. Again, they are human too

When Charles and Diana came for dinner and coffee with Elena and her friends ,Diana chatted avidly with the students, whereas Charles had no idea as to have a normal conversation . My son felt sorry for Charles as he clearly felt out of place in Elena's small sitting room .Diana clearly loved it

The Danish Monarchy IS constitutional and the Queen DO have a role. She IS head of State and is among other things setting the lines every time we have a new Parlament. But of course, the Danish Royal family isn`t any good when it comes to make one scandal after the other, showing bad behavior towards other people, and it`s obvious that they don`t like being among "normal" people - and that is what makes the Brits so Boooring to watch. So I Don`t!

The Danish taxation is incredibly high, even for a Keynesian welfare state, taxes are aimed to benefit all, and should not be thrown away so recklessly, such as $28 millions for a single family to enjoy.

Mary and Frederik have earned a considerable income for themselves, and never take the whole of their allowance from the Danish State ,unlike his brother. They pay their taxes on their private income just like any other taxpayers.Their aim as King and Queen is to be monarchs who support Danish Sport, the Arts Music etc,and to enhance Danish businesses, rather than to be monarchs who enjoy pomp and, receptions etc ,like previous royals. They ride their bikes in Copenhagen and go to local restaurants and coffee bars . Their children go to State Schools
