Another option is to roll a strip of newspaper around any object of the right size (e.g. a food can for larger containers), 3-5 layers and leave it overhang on one side, then you fold in the overhand like you did in the last toilet role example. This isn't very sturdy, so handle with care, but it was a good emergency solution last year when it was to cold to plant my tomatoes but they needed badly needed bigger containers. Though in my experience all paper based solution have 2 downsides, first since water will evaporate on the sides too, so they dry out the soil quite fast. Second specially toilet roles started to mold quite fast for me. I'm not sure if I want a possible source of mold spores on my window sill (in a greenhouse or outdoors I don't see an issue).

Just bought a bunch of your Containerwise trays. Liked them so much I bought some more. I still have 200 toilet rolls saved for my sweetcorn seeds though.

Creative, interesting and good for decorative plants but I think cardboard is not necessarily food safe. E.g. it might've come into contact with chemicals during shipping. So be careful!

Hey Daan, Thank you for the comment! In my research, I couldn't find any products used other than cleaned and recycled cardboard. It's all biological and food safe (even the glue). I'm not sure about shipment tho!

How would you plant the ones in the toilet paper in the ground then? Could you put the whole roll in or should you remove the seedling and soil and discard the cardboard? Great video! Thanks for sharing!

Great question Michele. You can just put it in the ground completely with the roll. Best to give it a good watering once you put them in the ground so the toilet roll can start the decaying process!
