I’ve been using this for a while now; IMHO it’s the best free mastering software (and far better than SoundCloud’s service which isn’t free!) I strongly recommend the overall volume level be -3DB or lower (generally -3B to -6DB is a good rule of thumb) prior to mastering
@PeteJohnsMusic

I am using it. Just the "Fire" Mastering I never liked. It's making a weird balance with a overpowered low frequency. Mostly I use the Universal or the Tape One. It's only important to mix it right before, but that's anyway normal
@Fear2Stop

Yeah “Fire” is pretty terrible…doesn’t work well on any type of music .
@PeteJohnsMusic

Totally. I tried the “fire” on even some electronic and drum & bass tracks and it sounded pretty terrible. I thought maybe my ears are too old. 😄

@@PeteJohnsMusic lol come on. I think we are around the same age. I tried with various genres too. It kills the heights and also not makes the low frequencies sound as full as it could. The other 3 Mastering work fine, so that is ok for a free app and even the Vocals recording are good enough (I just use a headset for it) when you found out how to use it

I think the tape-esque saturation option works well enough with the kind of lo-fi music I make. My only problem is that the service has a 15 minutes limit per upload, and I wanted to cohesively master a project that's longer than that. I have a question for you, if I may: Do you think it could be worth mastering the tracks separately? Pretty much every track shares the same instruments/patches, and levels. I am afraid it might destroy this balance. With that said, thanks for the video!
@PeteJohnsMusic

Hi Pete. Nice tracks! Where are they available? Question for you, I used your affiliate link to download the iOS version of BL and clicked every button and went to the online help, but not seeing an option for mastering an uploaded file. (Disclaimer: I jumped in on this vid and haven’t watched the previous ones on BL. But I will. ) Update: I uploaded as a new project and eventually found the Mastering option in “additional settings”. Ok it only took 5 mins lol. Anyway, neat stuff! 2nd update. BL is exporting as MPEG4 …not seeing WAV file option.

Hey there. So, that's quite a new thing and I haven't actually tested it fully. If you master a song and are happy with the master, I don't think you'll need it. In fact, it may over-hype your track and result in it being turned down. Check this video for info - kzitem.info/news/bejne/0H5r34mDhmqldYo
