Thanks, TJ I use Prelinger quite a bit in my documentaries. Thanks for showing me other sources which I will use primarily for B-roll. Tranks, again for a quality produced and informative video.

I find the GPL license better. GPL is true freedom.

I am a huge fan of GPL. As I understand it, GPL offers open license(s) specifically for software, while Creative Commons offers open licenses for media like images, audio, and video. Both are excellent, but are geared towards different ends.

TJ FREE GPL can actually be used for any type of media, but since GPL requires the RAW data of the work and the whole license printed out (which is about two A4 pages) people prefer Creative Commons because it does not require these two things. For texts, GPL is perfectly fine (text are raw data) except you have to include the whole GPL license in the document. The alternative, GPDL does not require this and is meant for documentations. However, many prefer Creative Commons because it's simpler for many to understand and makes it clear what you can and cannot do with the work without needing a laywer. In addition to this, modern cameras are often storing pictures in the JPG format, which makes it impossible to license it under GPL; JPG is a proprietary compressing format. Note that I'm not a lawyer but studied basic jurisprudence.
