A tender, touching song... takes me back to the day I heard the news and how I felt. Saw your Daddy and the band perform just about 6 weeks beforehand, and it is something I will never forget. RIP Ronnie, Steve, Cassie and all the other Freebirds that have followed.... and thank you for the music and memories to last a lifetime. Bless you, to Tammy, that you are reunited with your Daddy one day and be happy once again...

Tammy was born 6 days before me in 1967. She lost her daddy in October 1977 and 3 months later I lost my dad at age 10 on January 8, 1978. I relate to her so much. No one understands unless you've been through it. You feel incomplete and all you have are sad memories and a picture. Tammy has died 3 months ago July 2022 and is with her daddy and God. Now she's complete. Rest in peace Tammy. Bless your sweet soul.

Nice tune. In the 70's my brother had a high school friend Billy (last name started with a B, keeping that hush hush for the family). Billy's cousin was Bob Burns, the original drummer of Lynyrd Skynyrd. I remember meeting a few of them at Billy's house. All were down to the earth good people. God bless. Thanks for the music and memories. A FREE BIRD ALWAYS SOARS AND FLIES, NOTHING ABOUT THEM EVER DIES. THE TEARS AND PAIN SHALL FADE, NOTHING CAN TAKE A FREE BIRDS WINGS AWAY.

Beautiful, moving...I 'd give anything to see him again too! I never saw a Skynyrd show until 1985. Collins was there in a wheel chair and flew off to meet Ronnie shortly after. I cried alot between the "Hell Yeahs'" The albumns with Ronnie and the whole band will live forever in the hearts of true southern rockers. My favorite band and I still listen to :One From The Road" and "Street Survivors" alot, and every time a lump swells up in my throat to think of all the tradgedies they had. R.I.P.

This is beautiful and touches my heart so deeply that I cried listening and watching the video. Tammy has the genes and her writing skills are right from her heart, just like Ronnie's. This whole thing, watching the grown up Tammy singing about the dad she had only until she was 5 and thinking about Ronnie. I had to stop the repeat of the song to write this tribute to the Freebird he let behind.....RIP Ronny Van Zant.

I love it Tammy. I was 17 in 1977. In Feb 1977 My mother died. I can so feel what this has meant for you. My mother was a painter. I have her talent but when she died I let it die in me. Then one depressed day 25 or so years later I was bored and depressed, I picked up a brush. And I painted and I cried, I remembered, and I cried and I painted. I got back my life that day and part of my mother. Don't ever let anyone take your gift or let it die. Thank You for sharing. (always been a fan)

Born in 69', just two years younger than Tammy, and still remember the day Tamy's father passed away. My older brothers played Skynyrd and I have ben a Skynyrd fan as long as I recall.. It's lovely to hear Tammy sing this tribute to her father and for any real Skynyrd fan it must be easy to recognize the similarity in voice and sound of the va Zant family voices. Tammy, great job, well done, keep it up. As your father always said: Freebirds keep on flying. :-)
