The Freedom-class is one of two classes of the LCS program. The Littoral Combat Ship class consists of two variants, the Freedom variant and the Independence variant, built for the United States Navy. The LCS is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments as well as the open-ocean.
