109,000 on the first clutch. had mine (a 2003) for 7 years and its cost more in tax than repairs over that time. No bad for a 21 year old car. It has been off road frequently and never let me down.

TBH though its mainly used on road as a response vehicle, due to the vast boot capacity. Occasionally it has been used to tow out morons.

I had a Freelander 1, but now drive a Freelander 2 at work. It’s got 218k miles on it, road tyres and is our work van - it will surprise you where we take it and it amazes me how ell it goes

Thanks for the video, I am impressed with the capability for what it is, the traction control seems to be pretty effective, such a pity it doesn't just have a low crawl gear like a VW syncro

Hi, good video, I have a Freelander 1 that I use, mainly for off-roading it has a 2 inch lift and Maxxis wormdrive tyres that give it another about 1,5 inch I used lanes around Surrey, Alton and even Salisbury plain and never problem and a lot of people are really surprised how capable but you do have to pick your line sometimes which makes it more interesting the vehicle is also lighter makes it very good offroad I do agree not having low range is a problem even in first it does try and go a bit too fast. And even with the mods, it’s not too bad on road still will do motorway speed or be a little bit more noisy from the Tyres and you can chucked around A roads as well

Freelanders were never designed for serious off roading so the fact they are as good as they are is impressive. They were a relatively affordable 4WD car designed primarily for the road but with good off road ability. Good video thanks for sharing.

I have an 03. V6 Auto Freelander 1 and its the 3 door version, I have owned it for about 3 years and I love it, I use it mainly for towing my custom built off road buggy around which it does well. I have just fitted new Maxxis AT tyres 225/75/R17 on factory rims without any lift and agree anything bigger just would not fit. It does impact me a little when towing however when just driving it onroad it feels great, with Summer just around the corner for me I am looking forward to maybe taking it for a spin on the beach. Great video by the way. Cheers

@@louisburland5346 so far zero, I have fitted a new radiator overflow bottle, new Ford focus cap that is rated a bit higher than OEM (18PSI from memory) I have removed removed the OEM radiator fans and fitted 16 Inch electric fan that comes automatically on about 87C with an aftermarket sensor and a temp gauge. Seems to work for me so far. Cheers

The only thing I found odd about freelanders are the exhaust pot that actually stick out like hippos balls otherwise she's actually tough when the road get rough💪💪💯

Freelander could never have had dual range, the whole idea was to just drive into a field without pulling extra levers for 4wd, diff lock, etc. I think they knew how many casual off-roaders had discos, jeeps etc and didn't know how to work them.

tell me freelander, before 2003 m47 diesel, with what Vp44 injection system? Has Komon Rail been installed on the restyling since 2004? SO ALL M47 PRE-STYLING THERE ARE NO COMONIRAIL?

Before the M47R it was the L Series 2.0 turbo diesel, not common rail but was more reliable.
