The day started off fairly calm with good views of Mt Yotei. The forecast called for a deterioration through the day which was correct. We weren’t expecting such inclement weather with a rapid deterioration in the afternoon. I have experienced strong wind on the peak before, but not to this extent. The shelter at the top was definitely needed.
Niseko can be a windy place. When the winds are strong, often the top lifts will not be operating and the peak gates will be closed.
