For someone who has never done a squat, that was a big number. Freeriding apparently builds some pretty decent strength.

Great Video! Love seeing functional training for mountainbikers! I‘m wondering why so many people don’t squat to full depth? In Sam‘s case it’s clear that he does not have the mobility as a beginner I‘m not saying that the other guys are doing it wrong but for my eyes it’s quite unconventional (being in medical school and 7 years of powerlifting) I know that there are special squat techniques for functional and sport specific training but is there a specific reason why they are squatting like that in this video?

Its really a sport specific thing since there isnt any benefit for them to squat deeper hence the position on the bike when u ride.Depends on the bike geometry, but im pretty sure that you can even go bellow parallel on the bike.

@@BboyFilix one of the most important reasons for working out is that you can take crashes much easier And during a crash it‘s likely to leave your perfect riding position 😂 Or taking a hard Landing when your ankles flex hard under load (like during a deep squat) So i think your Body and joints should be as strong as possible in every imaginable position for maximum safety and performance
