This is glorious, I've been looking for "freestyle libre glucose reading is unavailable" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Camebattian Mysterious Convenience - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great one of a kind product for discovering how to end your diabetes problem minus the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my buddy got amazing success with it.

My diabetic nurse has recommended these and she put on my first one. I put on my second while watching this ever so helpful video. Thank you so much. Also, you echoed her advice in talking about staying in range being the most important thing as I felt kind of stressed and helpless after the first week, especially when testing after meals. I have already been woken up a couple of times in the night by low glucose alarms. I wonder how often this has been happening without me realising. In the long term, this is going to make it so much easier to adjust my long acting and short acting insulin appropriately.

Hey Tom, thank you for all the great tips and information. I'm from Brazil and my 4-year-old boy is type 1 since april. He has used Freestyle libre on his skinny arms since then but latelly it has developed a strong alergy on his skin. I searched on the internet for alternative sites for placement and your videos were the first I found. I'm going to try the hips for the first time, because he already uses the I-port advance on his thigh. Thank you again for the help and the confidence you've made me feel.

I use the arm and for me use to be fine even without covering most of the times...in summer I cover it because indeed is most exposed. This summer for first time I had like an infection all around the place where I have the sensor...I have found a very strong tape which I thought was great but after 3 days of swimming with it intensively I started feeling bad, when I took it off thank god I did it was not going well! Now you mentioned it could be was for the middle spot being totally covered! Ah also removing with oil I dont do and looks works better👍 thanks a lot!

Hi Tom, I've watched a few of your videos recently. I just wanted to note for anyone here that with the Libre 2 you have to choose between the reader OR your phone to scan with. When the app was released for the Libre 2 I downloaded it and tried to scan a new sensor after activating it with the reader and I was given an error that the sensor was activated with a different device and I couldn't use my phone until the next sensor. I also called customer support and they confirmed that it has to be either the reader or the phone. =(

The sensor would sometimes get caught on my clothing when I was dressing and I found a cheap DIY solution. I took a loose cotton sock and cut about 3-inch strip from the top. That created a makeshift 3-inch wide arm band that I simply pulled over the sensor. Just make sure the sock is clean and not tight. While this will cover the middle spot of the sensor, I figure it is no different than wearing any other clothing since the material is just cotton. As far as I know the instructions do not prevent wearing the sensor under clothing, do they? Anyway, now anytime I end up loosing a sock in the laundry I just use the remaining sock to create another “arm band” Loose-fitting white cotton athletic socks work great and become virtually invisible under white shirt. Of course, if you have large muscles, this may not work for you since a sock may be too tight. You don’t want the sensor to be squeezed. You just want it to stay in place and avoid hard edges that can get caught in your clothing. If the sensors were tapered off around the edges, it would help a great deal.

There are companies online that send out different covers that you apply and usually stick for the 14 days. "Stay Put" is one company. They sent me my patches and I learned to cut them in half and each one has an area straight down the middle that I cut in half. There are 10 in one pack. I ordered enough for the year and emergencies such as when the dew points are extremely high I have to watch that it does not fall off. They are inexpensive.

If you sync your reader to the Libreview website, or make an account and use the Librelink app, each time you scan the data gets uploaded. From the site, you can download a CSV file with all the readings, not just the values you saw when scanned. On the site, all the readings at 15-minute intervals are kept. Also, the graphs, on the reader, phone and site use the full data, not just the scans in your logbook.

3 items I dislike about the Libre 2 1) There are some alarms that go off with no description of why there is an alarm making noise on my phone. 2) The alarm tone is too loud..it is heard by so many around me and I cant stop it until I am able to get in a scan or lower my phone volume. This might take some time if my phone is not immediately by my side. Yes, I can lower my phone volume but sometimes I must leave it loud to hear and answer calls. Possible Fix for Abbott to consider: possibly a second small wearable device that adheres to your skin (anywhere you choose) that serves as a vibrating alarm only...it could be placed anywhere and operate with a larger changeable battery - like those used for such small devices...like watches. No more loud alarms, just a quiet vibration on the user's skin. The Libre 2 sensor does not have enough room for such a battery/ vibration device. 3) I have tried everything I could to enable all alarms but my Adroid Libre app still states alarms are not available. I even called Abbott and they said my Samsung SAMSUNG-SM-G930V is not compatible....yet it worked beautifully through my first 4 sensors....still not luck resolving this alarm issue. Love the sensor otherwise! A game changer for tracking what foods affect my numbers! Great job overall Abbott!

Beware lot of sensors are faulty and give a very low result for eg it will show you a normal fasting level of 5 when it is actually 8. You need to test it with the finger prick meters to be sure. I had reduced my medications due to this and was shocked when my HBA1c results came much higher. I am using this for the last couple of years (spent thousands of dollars on this) and have decided to discontinue using it.

@@TypeOneTalks The problem I have is why are some sensors very accurate and others way out even though I take all care to make sure I install them perfectly and take care of them while they are on my arm. Earlier when I reported faulty sensors to Abbott they immediately would send me a replacement but the replacement would also give wrong readings so it failed the purpose. I told them no point sending me replacements tell me what am I doing wrong, they told me check Libre readings after 5 or 10 mins after finger prick but that too was still way out most of the time. I was type 2 and on the verge of becoming type 1 when I started using this. A few times I have just discarded the sensor after 4 to 5 days as the readings were way off, there was no point, I felt I was fooling myself. Some times I have discarded the sensor after a couple of days as it was for some reason very painful. I would get up with pain in the middle of the night when I changed position while sleeping on the arm with sensor. It would be great if they would guarantee perfect sensors all the time. Even though I am buying them at full price at my expense I would not mind if they were all accurate. Some sensors give me perfect readings matching to my 2 finger prick meters from Accuchek which I use for comparison. Since last several months they do not offer replacement and ask me to get letter from doctor if they were to support the product for me. Even when the product failed totally after 3 to 4 days saying sensor failed and ended earlier than 14 days they refused to help me saying that I am type 2 and so not covered for support. I know several type 1 who are having the same issues of low readings and readings that are way off the finger prick readings. I now rely only on the finger prick readings.

The issue is that 20mg of difference between 90 and 110 doesnt matter and nobody cares. But a difference of 20mg between 60 and 80 creates a real issue. Since i have normalized my blood sugar i discover new issues like this that ive never seen before. Now that i have my blood sugar all the time between 70 and 120, i need accuracy

Something I've noticed recently, reading my blood glucose with the app or the reader will also give me two different results, the difference is quite small, but that was slightly disturbing at first. That might be a Freestyle Libre v1 issue? Also, I'm a bit nitpicking here, but in the part where you mention how to remove the sensor, you talk about Tac Away but show a product image of Skin Tac, which could be confusing to people not knowing the difference between both.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. Such critical feedback allows me to further improve the quality of my videos. Regarding the differences in apps, each app has their own algorithm I believe so it depends a bit which app you are referring to... The LibreLink app should be matching the reader very closely though. At least in my case it was like that.

I use Libre/MiaoMiao as a good ballpark figure and if either show me a high or low that I should be aware of, I finger prick to confirm before treating. I do find on the whole that a high or low from my sensors tend to be a little on the dramatic side compared to finger pricking. Hope this helps?!

Abbott recently upgraded software on Apple iOS to improve accuracy, resulting in slight differences between phone and app, with app being superior. As far as I know, Android is not yet upgraded.

I must also mention that Alep soap works well as it's 100% natural soap with no colourants or sent also you should NEVER cover up the sensor's hole as it allows gasses from the battery to escape. I have used a normal plaster and it killed my senor within the next day.

It is sad that Abbott is pushing for and dumping the Freestyle Libre 1 in India still. They now have promotions for the reader . The App does not work for the sensors sold in India so one has to by default buy the reader and cannot use the most convenient way… the app. And it is very costly there. On the other hand in Europe the Libre 3 has been released and is much cheaper. Why this discrimination?

If you are in the US the reason can be that the app is not yet approved to be used with the Libre 2 model. But I am just guessing it depends on what country and what Libre model you are referring to... Good luck!
