Hi I might have a better solution for you, without moving your bed. Try 50/50 alcohol/water mixture in a spray bottle. Spray around the mating edge of the bed and print. In 15-30sec. you should be able to pop the print right off. You may hear little crackle as the part is unsticking and sucking more of the mixture under it. If its a large flat print that stuck real well, you may need to use the spatula but it slides right under with out any force. I print on Ender with glass bed as well, large flat prints that take up about 60% of the bed, come off real easy. Added bonus you don't have to level the bed because nothing is moved, and when you wipe of the alc/water mix from the bed you also clean it, so you can go straight to next print.

50/50 didnt work for me. I have an Aquila X2 which comes with a coated glass bed. Im assuming it has something to do with the coating. Ive let it sit for various amounts of time with copious amounts of mixture (50% water, 50% 91 Iso). The freezer method worked flawlessly. Although it took roughly 2-4 minutes, not 40 seconds.

Caution! This method works BUT it caused my PETG print to grab the plate such that when I did remove the part, it took a chunk of my build plate with it. Now I have divots in my build plate. TIP: get a 1/8" sheet of plate glass for your build plate, and use the holder which holds a 1.5 inch razor blade to remove the part. Make the bed HOTTER than when you printed, and the part pops off easily using the razor blade.

This technique just really useful for tiny, fragile objects to get them off without damage. As soon as real large area is sticking to the glass, it won't work. I've struggled for hours yesterday to get a stuck box off. I've frozen it twice, used the alcohol/water mix and still no chance. I left it under water over night and it still was welded to the plate. Just a careful split with a scraper and a hammer did the thing and even then you could see from the other side of the glass, how always only small parts are separating. I was lucky, nothing was damaged.

Yes, once the contact area widen up the more contact surface will make the removal much more tough. I am also thinking if we can soak the entire glass-print onto ice chilling water, not sure if it has any good effect on the removal.

I'il try it the next time for small pieces, I usually rince under cold water, then wash the bed with plain soap for good adhesion :P edit: Nice video btw!

This ethod doesn't work for me. I print medium to medium large objects (objects about 1/4 to 1/3 the build plate surface) with a Creality glass bed. Man do I struggle. I see tons of videos with people saying prints dont stick, but not for me. I think it's an exact science in that the build plate material or coatings added plus printer calibration and temps all play a roll. Not one size fits all. Good video though.

I think for larger objects more time or lower temp might be required. I print mostly small parts though :-)

I was having a similar issue, but I found applying a solution (1:1 of IPA and water) to the edge of the print and waiting ~10 secs that with minimal effort the print comes off. I haven't tried when using the smooth side of the glass plate.

Yes....the smooth side causes better surface prints and lots of headaches hahhaa

Works great for small parts and sometimes big parts. I just used this technique on a big part that worked 2x in the past and this one time it ripped off glass with it. Oh well, time to upgrade the bed anyways!
@OneTimeBuilds

wow....it ripped the glass or the material on top of the glass?
@fc3sbob

@@OneTimeBuilds Hey!, It ripped off a thin layer of glass and the glass was stuck to the part. This used to happen to me often until I learned that you can't print PETG on glass but this was PLA+. I ended up freezing the part and then tapping the glass to shatter it further and get it off the part. Luckily I can still use half the bed right now to finish some parts, I have a magnetic removable bed in the mail which I'll have tomorrow to try out. Worst case if that sucks I just get another glass bed for $20.

@@OneTimeBuilds haha, we'll see about the calibration. I'm running Klipper on a Ender 3 V2 with a BLtouch so it shouldn't be a huge issue. I'll have to dial in my Z height as well.

I used glue on a steel heatbed before printing, so it made it difficult to use this technique. The object I printed won't come off the bed. I had to use alcohol and a spatula.
@OneTimeBuilds

I think with glue and a steel plate (mine is aluminum) you will need a colder freezer and more time since the steel will take longer to shrink

I’m having trouble 3D printing I do not know how to load models from thingiverse onto and sd card and the slice and print can you help please
@OneTimeBuilds
3 жыл бұрын
That is a rather generic question, but hopefully I can give you some pointers. 1- Download the model in STL format 2- Open the model in your slicer (I use cura) 3- Set your configuration for the slicer (this can be quite complex) 4- Slice and inspect the model 5- Save into an SD card (I use a card reader for my mac) 6- Print :-)
