Look how well preserved, maintained & respected is the history of western Australia by the WA government 👏?. Historic Freemantle prison has become a great museum of WA history, commendable.

Great video. I think you said you are 57 years old, I'm 59. I did 3 years in prison myself, I could probably write a 30,000 word comment here, but I'll limit it extremely. 2 things, I've never seen a masonry prison that used buckets for toilets in the cells, I'm sure that was very nasty. Even Auschwitz had toilet blocks outside from the barracks. At the 34:30 mark, "I can't even begin to imagine, that doesn't look very comfortable". That cell looks like the Taj Mahal compared to some of the cells I was in. I was in a cell a that had no cot, and no blanket. Just a concrete slab, a stainless steel combination sink/toilet, and that's it. I had to wear a "3 piece restraint" the whole time in that cell. My hands were cuffed and hooked to a chain around my waist, and ankle chains. It made eating and using the toilet "interesting", especially with a broken rib. I did 6 months in that cell. I'm sure fights, stabbings and general misery were the norm in that prison. Be very glad you made it 57 and don't "understand" what happened in that place.

Hey Clint, where abouts were you in prison?

@@michaelspears7116 Mostly in and around Baltimore MD. I was in about 6 different prisons in the 3 years I was in. I don't remember all the names, and some of them have closed since then. "JPRU", "Brockbridge" and Maryland House of Correction (the cut) in Jessup MD. "MCTC" in Hagerstown MD. I did the 6 months in "MCAC" (super max) 401 East Madison St. Baltimore MD. (it's not super max now) I was also briefly in "Metropolitan Transition Center" in downtown Baltimore. It's no longer maximum, they made it minimum because of the violence. (in fact after looking, they might be tearing it down). Good Riddance! Here are some photos of what was once "Dracula's Castle"--wikimapia.org/13636004/Metropolitan-Transition-Center#/photo/1804368

One error all meals were eaten in cell until after the 1988 riot, when the turnstyles were added. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all in cell. His comment regarding meals was incorrect
