Awesome! Thanks for sharing. It's crazy how the rapids look SO MUCH SMALLER when you look at them from downstream (looking up) as opposed from upstream (looking DOWN at them)!!!

dont be fooled, I took my first unschedluled swim out of a canoe here. You go deep and get spit out pretty far down river. Long time holding breath! lol Cheers!

Nice video but I read that was suppose to be a class 4 rapid? Sure doesn't look like it

Yeah it's a stretch to call Frank Bell's a 4 at 2000 cfs. At 2500 - 3500 I think it's a solid 4-, by Southeastern standards. It's a long rapid with a tricky entry and a powerful hole at the bottom. Swimmers going through the bottom hole stay under for a long time and pop up way down stream. I've seen it recirculate a canoe with float bags for several minutes. It's nearly impossible to scout because the jungle on both sides is so thick. A lot of yard sales have happened here! It's the most fun rapid on the river though. AW says for most people comfortable on class 4 it's not worth paddling the Windy Flats just to get to Frank Bell's, but if you're camping at the Hot Springs Resort, it's definitely worth it because you can float down right to your campsite
