Le Plus Joli Rêve - Lucienne Boyer, Columbia ca 1931 (Paris)
NOTE: I like this song very much for it has its Polish equivalent, known in POland from early 1920s as a "cafe- chantant -romance" and entitled in a very picturesque way, as "Puchowy śniegu tren" (A Downy Train Of A Snow).
The Polish text is completely different: it begins like an Andersen's "The Little Match Girl" story. A poor girl is selling something out in a snowy street in the evening, standing in a gateway, when a rich coach stops in front of her. A "beautiful young gentleman" asks her to accompany him so he can feed her and give a warm coat at his home. So, she gets on a coach, they drive to a wonderful palace and it's where the Andersen's story ends. In next stanzas Polish text becomes really indecent and today, in our new-pruderish times it would be probably forbidden in most of the internet forums as "adolescent sex molestation" . Ugh. I have it somewhere, recorded on "Syrena" and sung by Ochrymowicz. I will try to find it and upload it one day, so you will see.
