Fifty-some years ago I bought a Eureka Mount Marcy tent that had a similar build (coated nylon with a window in the peak and windows along the side for ventilation to keep condensation under control). Believe me, IT DOESN'T WORK! In warm weather you can take a shower every morning as you work your way out of the tent. In the winter, you will get snow inside from the built up condensation. Condensation can be reduced by curling your body and putting your face next to a side window when you sleep, but you will still get a certain amount of condensation inside. I bought the Mount Marcy because it was cheaper than other backpacking tents, and I had damned little money back then. I can't tell you how happy I was when I finally got a job where I made enough money that I could buy a tent with a tub bottom and uncoated inner tent roof with a coated nylon fly to cover the whole nine yards. There is no replacement for a nylon tent with a fly for shedding the weather, and a uncoated roof to let water vapor through with a decent gap between the inner tent and the fly if you want a backpacking tent. Gore-tex tents don't work because the roof of the tent is too far away from your body heat, so the water vapor won't pass through. If there is another lightweight synthetic that will work to pass water vapor through without allowing rain through, I haven't heard of it. The most comfortable tents are still made from cotton canvas, but they are too heavy for backpacking. As for fully coated nylon tents with so-called "ventilation" windows: been there, done that, got soaked, had to air out and dry my sleeping bag every time the weather allowed, I don't recommend it.

Maaan, when I was in middle school I had an older version of this tent that was absolutely awesome. It was cotton canvas but had a rubberized floor and a waterproof rainfly that went over the tent body. It was the coolest tent I've ever owned but I got rid of it before I knew it lol (I've owned many tents over the years). I've seen this version on military surplus websites and it does look like a solid little tent.

Looks like the nylon French f2, from what I understand the f1 was cotton canvas and used a separate rain fly, some f2 come with a door on each end and no mesh door or only one door with a inner mesh door, they also come in desert tan.

I picked up the desert version of the F1 french tent which is tan coloured and has zippered mesh inner door flaps. I got it from milsurp because it was the cheapest way to get poles. Once I got most of the moon dust out, the tent has been amazing. Good size, not too heavy for what you get.

Dave, I love your content. It would be awesome if you went over the Mora knives you currently own and use in a video. Since there are so many designs, it would be informative to hear your opinion on the proper design intent and uses for each of the blades. 👍👍👍 .. nice 😊. I think that most of we 'Boomers' (my YOB 1950) started out in 'A-Frame Pup Tents'. I still have my Canvas Pup Tent from 1972. Treatment over the years with 'Nu Proof' Canvas Sealer has kept it in good condition and weatherproof. Too heavy practically for distance Back Packing but ideal for Short Haul, Car, Camp Site and Back Yard Camping .. the kids, especially my Daughter when they were young (and dogs .. of course 😁) having spent many weekends enjoying themselves. Far enough to be out of Mom and Dad's hair 😏 but close enough in case of any problems .. and of course, with a Pit Bull and Jack Russel in the tent for Security .. 👍. With all of the sophisticated (aka 'fancy-pants .. thus also expensive 🙄) gear out there .. without which, if we believed explicitly what the Advertisers (and some You Tubers) were shrieking at us that, we would not survive a single day or night in the outdoors, it is not surprising that some never get into the Outdoors due to their perception that their pockets are just not deep enough. Yes definitely, Hi-Tech Gear has it's place in specific circumstances and applications .. but .. for we 'Common Men', there is nothing wrong with initially commencing an often Lifetime Outdoor Journey with Basic, Robust, Cost-Effective Gear .. and .. if it suits us, sticking with it. A good share .. thanks. Take care ..

Disclaimer: I do not own one of these. I have looked extensively into these tents. I saw plenty of reviews that say that it's great, but it leaks in heavy rains. Wether it's user error, the reviews are simply false, the one they bought was used and not taken care of, or whatever is up in the air. It's a military tent, I am sure it is a good tent otherwise I don't think Dave would show it. But. I would defidently do what he did based on my own research.
