As ex-Texans, I know you will appreciate this: HEB in Marble Falls west of ATX (my little town) does NOT sell baguettes. They do, however, sell a two-pack of "French Sticks". So as I continue planning my French move for 2025, I bought some French Sticks and cheeses for a lazy/splurge "dinner" today. When I move to France, I will call them "Texas Sticks".

Really helpful. I can see that this is all doable for us without needing to hire anyone

Bonjour! Can you please speak to what documents you submitted for the "Purpose of Travel/Stay" requirement? I'm wondering how formal the "promise to not work" document needs to be, and how to submit a "pension certificate" if your retirement date is AFTER you submit the visa application- or if you won't be receiving a pension at all! Merci beacoup! :)

This was EXTREMELY helpful!! I love how you calmly and succinctly walked us through the process. My husband and I, along with our Golden Retriever, will be making our move in September, so we will be submitting in June. 3 questions... 1. Since we are retired, I am thinking that we would choose "Retired" vs "Unemployed", correct? Also, in regards to lodging, (not sure how you did it, maybe I'll find in past videos), we will be doing Airbnb for at least the first 3-months. 2. Will we need to secure the Airbnb prior to submitting the application, so that we have an address? 3. If you did Airbnb did you communicate with the host, as to why you were staying longterm, and ask for the address ahead of time, since most Airbnb hosts don't divulge the actual address until closer to the stay date. Thank you from Boston MA!

Hi! Congrats on the upcoming move! 1. Yes, retired is an appropriate selection if that's the case. 2 & 3. Yes, you will need an address to enter when you apply, but we never saw this address pop up anywhere later. The one that matters (where they'll send mail) is the one you enter to validate your visa after you arrive - we need to do a video on this. Airbnb has an option after you book that says "get a pdf for visa purposes." You'll select and print that to show housing with your application, the address of the airbnb will be listed on this pdf. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video, super helpful! Could share how you solve the hurdle of registering your daughter in school? I see that as one of the requirements for the son’s visa application.

I'm so glad I saw this Baguette Bound channel. All visa application procedures are explained in detail so that I can simply follow them. I too would like to succeed in obtaining a long stay visa and explain my experience to others and help them. I have a question. I want to get my visa on January 1st next year I know that I have to apply on October 1st. Can I apply on September 1st or August 1st? If I did it too long ago, is that grounds for rejection?

Question: For the Visa cost is it paid at the appointment center? I window didn't pop up for payment before I submitted the application. Thank you for this helpful video!

I found the language on their website super vague and unhelpful. It doesn’t actually say for how long one needs to prove accommodation for applying for the VLS-TS.

Hello, great video and I was wondering if I should use a company that provides the process of applying for the Visa? I’ve seen many video about this. What’s your opinion on this process? Thanks Again Coco

Like most things, it depends on the price. Applying for a visitor visa is a fairly simple process. If you have the criteria and documentation required for the visa type you are applying for, the application process will only take a few minutes and you can do it in stages using our videos as guidance. Some business or investment related visas may be a bit more complicated and may require more planning, analysis and documentation. Although even for these, its the documentation part that is more complicated, the application is still relatively quick and simple.

Love the videos. A question if I may. I'm retired and know my pension income meets the standard needed for for myself. My wife doesn't have a monthly income sufficient enough at this point. We would easily qualify for long visa's with our liquid assets for say the first year, and hopefully purchasing a home during that time (no mortgage). Would the income requirement for my wife in following years still be required even though we would now own property? Thanks.

Hi Perry, thanks for watching! Each person will need to show proof of funds for each renewal. But you can say that part of her funding is coming from another person (you) and submit document reflecting proof of that. There's no clear documentation we've seen on how owning a home might lower the total household cash / income requirements, but anecdotally we understand from others it can help your case for renewal.

Would a passport size picture also work for the visa application? Would you be paying via this site or do you need a money order/certified check?

Hi! If applying from the United States, you must pay online using a debit/credit card. I am not certain if that is also true in other countries. Unfortunately the visa photo dimensions are different (smaller) than US passport photo dimensions.

@@BaguetteBound great, thank you! So it is possible to get pictures when you have your appointment then or would the photo departments at Walgreens or CVS have that size?
